“Boring for kids”
Reviewed 23 March 2012

The front desk staff was great. Parking was terrible. Nice native plant landscaping around the walkways.

The bathtub was dirty, but the bathroom was big, with both a shower and a jet tub. There were two sinks and a vanity area with a bench seat.

There was a small sink, microwave, and refrigerator in our 1 bedroom unit, but not a stove or dishwasher. The room itself looked like a nice guest house with a combined living/dining space and separate bedroom. I liked the lighting, the recessed ceiling, the windows, and the layout.

If you don't golf or swim, there isn't anything else to do. The pool is clean, but small.

The golf course doesn't have pedestrian trails. There isn't a restaurant or a bar.

It is very quiet. More like a hotel or senior living community than a resort.

Very nice golf resort on the edge of Scottsdale...great golf in a neighborhood setting. Nice grounds but nothing fancy...one drawback is that the only restaurant is the golf patio and serves only lunch/light dinner/snacks...but there's so many great restaurants in the area...no big deal.

Condo layout is efficient. Request a golf course view and you'll get more light/nice patio to watch the golfers go by.

We returned to Orange Tree for the third year in a row and once again feel that the bonuses outweigh any negatives as far as this resort is concerned. The negatives include the possibility that you may have to park your vehicle a good distance from your room location. The positives include location, ample room sizes with exceptional quality beds, and a reasonable price considering the competition. For the past three years we have enjoyed watching spring training baseball and several of the stadiums are not far away. There is a three mile walk that surrounds the golf course and is about a one hour walk. We played tennis daily and had only about a ten minute ride to public courts. The rooms come with a microwave and a large refridgerator...very convenient. Tempurpedic beds make for good sleeping, and if you have a third person, the sofa bed makes for additional sleeping and privacy can be maintained with the french doors to the main sleeping area. Washroom space is very generous and the maid service did an excellent job. During March, rooms in the Scootsdale/Phoenix area are in high demand and can charge significantly more than we paid at the Orange Tree Resort. Many restaurants are not far away and downtown Scottsdale is no more than a 10 to 15 minute drive. We have played golf at the resort in the past and the couse is both scenic and enjoyable to play

Room Tip: ask about location to parking areas and also there is now an upgrade cost to a golf course view that...

After reading reviews, I asked for the top floor in building one before we arrived. Parking was right by our door and only a slight walk to the lobby. The pool and laundry weren't as far away as I expected. The staff was friendly and helpful. We always have cooking facilities and a washer and dryer in our condos so this unit was not up to our standards. The washers and dryers are free but quite busy - luckily the pool is right by the laundry room. I asked for an electric frying pan which was delivered before we got back from the grocery store. Check out FRY'S for groceries -get the store card for extra savings. The room is not set up for more than 2 people. The tv in the bedroom is so small that you have to lay on the closest side of the bed to see and hear it. If you turn the volume up- it affects the person watching tv in the living room . Closing the flimsy doors does not help. The balcony was a disappointment because you can't see over the walls. The unit is quiet and the jetted tub is nice. Erin at the front desk was so helpful. Not so with the concierge - we were told multiple times that we could use the free computers with a printer to make arrangements for activities. Isn't helping us their job? We did get printed directions to sights but they were wrong !!! After the second misdirect I brought it to Barb's attention. Doesn't anyone check these things before giving them to guests? Not everyone has a GPS. Don't get me wrong, we had a nice vacation but won't be returning to Orange Tree.

Room Tip: Call ahead- they are more than willing to give you what you want Building 1 or 2 have good parking...

We were forewarned about the parking issues. Upon check in, we asked for and were granted an upper floor room in building one, closest to the lobby. So parking was a breeze. Room was clean and quiet, with a nice outdoor porch. It was great to have a separate living room, so my husband could sleep in while I had breakfast. Tempurpedic bed was SO comfortable. Location on north side of Scottsdale was closer to golf courses, so convenient for us. Didn't use the facilities: too cold for the pool. Restaurant was under construction. But staff was very helpful and friendly. We will be back.

Room Tip: Ask for room in building 1.
