This was a top notch pick for a great family dinner. We shared the Burrata salad and received a fantastic a muse -bouche from the chef. Entree's were hot and each one very tasty. Our server was well trained on the menu as well as the local organic farms and origin of the suppliers for the fish and the wines. Often times when the front of the house staff gives service the back of the house doesn't back it up with great food. This was consistent and fantastic from beginning to end, right down to the chocolate tart and freshly brewed coffee for dessert.

Narrowed down our "special occasion" dining choice to Cafe Monarch and House Brasserie, with House Brasserie winning the coin toss.

Found the patio area to be very pleasant due in no small part to a perfect evening weather-wise without any need for the outdoor heaters.

Service was uniformly friendly and professional throughout the meal. Cocktails were expertly prepared.

Unfortunately, the most important element in our dining experience, the food, was disappointing.

Presentation was lackluster and in some cases the dishes tasted odd or were spoiled by distracting ingredients or were served luke-warm.

In the case of the smoked burrata appetizer, a lump of cow's milk cheese was placed alongside some toasted French bread slices, presentation one would expect at a much lower-end dining establishment.

Why not place individual slices of cheese on their own crostini and garnish? The dish struck us as being very lazy.

The Tomahawk Pork Chop was smothered in some type of hard seeds. Imagine trying to enjoy one's meal, while removing tiny ball-bearings from between your teeth. It completely ruined the enjoyment of the dish.

The Lamb Bolognese had a decidely sour taste, so overpowering that it was left half-eaten by the two individuals who had ordered it as their entrees.

Finally, considering the cost, as well as the formal tone of House Brasserie's website, we were surprised at the number of families with toddlers as well as patrons who were comfortable dining in pajama bottoms and baseball caps.

It was bad enough that we had suggested this restaurant to our friends. It would've been even more uncomfortable had this been one of our formal client dinners.

Love Old Town Scottsdale, but the food choices are usually sports bars or pick up spots. I heard about this place from a bartender at The Mission, their sister property. Cool venue in an old house. We loved sitting outside under the big tent. The crispy chicken thighs and the Brussels sprouts were great appetizers. The pork chop and chicken entrees were good, but not great. Both our table neighbors, recommended the steak.

We ate at The Mission on Christmas eve (see my review) it was outstanding. We heard this 'sister' restaurant (same chef) was open Christmas so we made reservations. We could order from the regular menu or a special Chinese menu for just that day. Decided to give it a try. Everything was very good and sitting outside was lovely. Love to go back and try the regular menu which looked amazing.

not a million mile long menu, nice dishes and good wine list. If temperature allows, eat out on the patio. Keep an eye on the service, as a little forgetting unfortunately.
