“Great hotel, reasonable price”
Reviewed 1 March 2012

We have stayed at this hotel probably a dozen times in the past three years - my husband probably more like three dozen times as he's up there almost monthly for work. We almost always have a superb experience. The staff is friendly (and some of them have been around a long time, which adds to the experience, they remember the repeat-visitors), the facility is clean, and the special extras they do for their customers are out of this world. Happy hour involves snacks and beer, wine, or pop (free). They have a movie theater-style popcorn maker, available at least during happy hour and I think beyond as well. Cookies are put out in the evenings, with milk, and lemonade, iced tea, and coffee are available most of the day (coffee 24 hours, I think). The breakfast is typical HIE fare, which is pretty decent - hot items, good variety of cereal, yogurt, etc. They've done some renovations - the room ones can be inconvenient. Namely, they took out the bar sink in the suite living area and moved the coffee maker to that counter. Our room this past weekend had an electrical outlet there, but last month the room in which my husband stayed did not have one, he was cranky about having to find somewhere else to put the coffee maker (and there's nowhere else particularly convenient). The breakfast area downstairs has made more seating available, which I guess they needed, but it was at some expense of comfort, now it feels quite crowded. In the past we've seen annoyances like the hot and cold pipes were connected backwards to the sink and it took about a day to figure that out. Sometimes the room keys randomly stop working, so you have to get them reissued (although that has been better lately). At the end of the day, though, you get a heck of a bang for your buck staying here. The pool area is a wonderful, clean area with lounge chairs for getting some sun. The beds are comfortable, TV's are HD, internet connection is a good one, and the hotel is in a good location. I've stayed there the night before a plane trip and it's an easy shot to the airport, not to mention close to downtown Scottsdale, Tempe, etc. etc. I would recommend this hotel to anyone in a heartbeat, and it is our hotel of choice when staying in Phoenix!

When I stay at the Ritz Carlton or the 4 seasons, I expect fine customer service and also expect to pay for it. When I stay at a Holiday Inn Express my expectations are shall we say tempered, to say the least. I do an annual golf trip with some buddies for whom the Ritz is or 4 Seasons is not an option. This is the third year we stayed at this facility and the third year of impressive customer service. They get it!!! Their answer is always yes...now what is the question. Rooms are spacious suites so 2 guys who snore can get some sleep. The rooms are also impeccably clean. The free breakfast is fine if you stay away form the eggs and sausage. Free nachos wine and beer from 5 to 7 is also a bonus. Nice hot tub and pool. For the price this place gets the highest rating.

This is an updated, clean, newer hotel. The room I booked was nice for work as it had a living area and a separate bedroom. It was a bit loud as it was overlooking the pool; even on the third floor you could hear the people in the pool but luckily they close it at night. The free shuttle is very nice - but do be aware it does NOT run before 6am so if you have an early flight you need to take a taxi. I had the hotel arrange one for me for an early morning departure; they did (though the cabbie got lost so have to wonder if he's very familiar with the area!) Nice breakfast, nice lobby, appropriate for meeting up with people or brief business encounters. "Shop" next to the front desk with food, beverages, miscellaneous sundries. Nice and convenient area of town. Everyone at the front desk was nice; decent service. Would stay there again. Two computers in lobby with printers for use of guests. Free wi-fi. In room fridge.

We've stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Scottsdale AZ 4-6 times in the past 5 years. The hotel is conveniently located to major highways and attractions. More importantly, the upgrades have added an extra feel. Suites now have granite countertops, more contemporary furniture but carpeting needs updating. The lobby has a more comfortable appeal, extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff. The hotel shuttle is an added bonus as it will take you within a 3 mile radius of the hotel. Drivers are readily available for airport runs from early morning to 10pm. The hotel provides breakfast daily although can be boring with 5-7 day stay due to lack of variation, fresh popcorn is readily available throughout the day, fresh baked cookies at 7:30pm and happy hour with 2 types of beer and wine from 5-7pm. The pool is heated and clean and the exercise room is adequate. Two computers are readily available for guests and WiFi is availabe.Overall vast improvement and the staff remains always helpful, courteous and friendly. Management continues to make every effort to make guests comfortable. Hotel may consider in room safes and LED lighting, exhaust systems in the bathrooms. We will be back later this year for sure.

Room Tip: We usually stay in even number rooms 1st floor...136 or 138 clear view of the pool.Nice seating ar...

We asked for a quite room and were fine with what we got. The complimentary shuttle within a 3 mile radius of the hotel was great. We skipped the continental breakfast and headed to US Eggs (about 0.2 miles from the hotel) and enjoyed some great food.
