Owner description: Desert Wolf Tours is Scottsdale's #1 Ranked desert off-road and firearms Adventure! Better yet, we were named THE BEST OFF-PREMISES EXCURSION IN THE WORLD by TravelGolf and were just inducted into the TripAdvisor HALL OF FAME for earning their prestigious Certificate of Excellence for the 6th year in a row! At Desert Wolf Tours, YOU get to drive an authentic military-grade TomCar UTV. A Tomcar is smooth, fast, maneuverable and drives like no other off-road vehicle. Even if you've driven consumer grade UTVs and ATVs made by Polaris, Kawasaki, Yamaha, etc., you've never driven a military-grade UTV! They glide over the rocky terrain, leaving all others in the dust!! (Here is an added benefit - UNLIKE MOST AREA ATV TOURS, YOU DON'T NEED TO WEAR A HELMET ON OUR TOURS! So, no need to worry about that horrible "helmet hair".) As Arizona's #1 ranked self-drive tour outfit, Desert Wolf Tours provides unique tours to proprietary attractions that no other company offers. Because we're so near to most Scottsdale/Phoenix resorts, you'll be able to spend more time in the desert and less time in somebody else's van. We use the world's most comfortable off-road vehicles, have the best Adventure Guides and play in the most interesting terrain. With access to hundreds of thousands of acres of Desert Wilderness just North of Phoenix full of Cowboy history and gorgeous vistas, our guests leave our tours with awesome memories that last a lifetime? BOOK TODAY and we'll guarantee that you'll have a Great Time! NOTE - ALL OF OUR DESERT OFF-ROAD TOURS LEAVE FROM THE ROADRUNNER RESTAURANT AND SALOON, JUST A FEW MILES NORTH OF PHOENIX ON I-17.

“Awesome Adventure!”

Drove thru the desert in Tomcars. They were very comfortable and safe. Stopped at an old copper mine and dug turquois rocks. Also stopped at an Hohokam fort. We participated in the Tomcar drive and the firearm experience. Got to shoot a Glock and a Colt M4 rifle. Great instructions on the firearms. We were also fortunate to have one of the guides ride with us in our Tomcar. Alex and Terry were very knowledgeable and took lots of pictures for the group. I totally enjoyed the trip and it was well worth the price. Great Day!

“High octane desert journey on Tomcars!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 December 2011

Real good fun for the family in spending a half day touring the beautiful Arizona desert in open Tomcars. Great scenery, insightful guide (Alex) who made it fun for all. My daugther hit the motherload in digging out a beautiful big turquoise rock. Yes, lots of dust, but that's country living.

“Awesome, well worth the money”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 December 2011

We did the 1/2 day afternoon and it was great, the guides that were with us were excellent, they seemed very interested in us having a good time but they were also very informative about the desert and helpful to us in driving the Tomcars. (which isn't difficult) I had 3 teenage kids, 2 seniors and my wife and I would say that everyone enjoyed the experience equally. Awesome, don't miss it.

“You will get blown away!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 December 2011

We did the 1/2 day Sonoran Desert Tomcat tour. A Tomcat is basically a large ATV which you drive yourself. The tour is guided. The guide will ride in the first vehicle, giving you pointers and stopping the convoy when there is a point of interest.

We went deep into the desert. A good guesstimate is that we drove 20 to 25 miles total.

We stopped to see much of the desert flora. Our negative is that it is winter and springtime is the time to see the desert in bloom. Our guide, Alex was knowledgeable in the various plants plus we hope he was a great photographer. We will know once all his pictures are downloaded.

Another point is that we met at the Road Runner Restaurant and Saloon. I highly recommend you get there early and have lunch or stay after your excursion for a meal. It is very good basic American food at a reasonable price.

Oh, by the way, you do get blown away as we cleaned the dust off of ourselves with a high pressure hose!

I highly recommend this tour.
