We recently went to Payson with our in laws for an overnight hiking trip. We stayed at Kohl’s Ranch and it did not disappoint. Great location next to Horton Creek trail. We were able to check into our rooms and literally walk across the street to start hiking right away. We did have an issue with check in as it seems 4 rooms were booked instead of 2... took some time to clear it up.

Our rooms were nice and big- ours included a small kitchette with oven, fridge, and stove. We also had a fireplace which was nice as it was still cool outside. Our room had a small patio overlooking the back of the property and the in laws had one by the pool. Clean property and very accommodating. Since it is a little far from town they have a full restaurant as well as items you can purchase and cook for yourself. For example bacon and eggs, assorted frozen meals, and even ice cream for late night cravings.

After a hike we had some wine/ beers in our room overlooking the pool. Plenty of seating and everyone was very friendly. Basketball and Bocce courts for nicer weather. They also have outdoor grills if you were to bring your own food.

We ate dinner and breakfast in the restaurant and both were great. Our waitress Karen was awesome and we were able snag her for both meals. Mediterranean pizza was yummy and bacon, eggs, and potatoes were enjoyed by all.

Next morning after check out we went on another local hike closer to town. Would recommend and will def return. Family friendly and very accommodating. Slept well considering it’s a new surrounding and I normally don’t sleep good in hotels. Thanks Kohl’s Ranch!

We recently stayed at Kohl's Ranch in the Deluxe cabin. This was our second stay - our first was about 7 years ago. This time we stayed in a cabin instead of the main lodge. Our kids are older and we needed them to have their own room. The Deluxe cabin was well worth the upgrade. Not only was the cabin located on the creek, the cabin has separate bedrooms which gives the kids their space (with their own beds) and us parents, our space. The tv's in every room was nice as well because after long days of hiking it was nice to veg out in different rooms and not have the kids fight on what to watch. The only complaint I would have would be that there are only two pans to cook on so making breakfast was a bit of a challenge. Also, we did not have housekeeping service our cabin the entire three days we were there. Not sure if this is policy or not, and there was one day that we did have the do not disturb sign up but the other days, we did not. We did want a change of towels, but did not really need it. If we had stayed another day, we would have called and made a request. I would just say that maybe a helpful thing would be to list how many pots and pans come in the cabin so that people know what to expect when traveling.

we stayed from 03-23-18 till 03-30-18 in the deluxe 2 bed room i have to say this place was huge had a master with a king size bed with a huge bathroom and a sooker tub the second bedroom had two queen beds had a second bathroom that was nice sized large well stocked kitchen. found everything we need for cooking all meals had place setting for 8 it had two bbq right out side the front door. front porch with nice chairs that looked over the creek

outside game and heated pool were enjoyed by the kids every day staff went out of the way to make sure your were having a great time. every staff member i talked to or interacted with was supper nice and helpful. the kids clogged up one of the toilets and the staff came out supper fast and even brought the cleaning crew with them so it was all handled in one visit. cleaning lady did extra cleaning since she was there with out even being asked. i can not say how great the staff

have DVD and games that you can use at no charge during your stay. had a 4-5 page list of movies. kids had great fun picking out movies every night to watch.

so before i went i read lots of reviews about the bad cell service in the area. i will agree that the cell service is not that great but the the WiFi was outstanding. we were able to stream movies and do all kinds of inter net stuff at the same time. had no problems with the WiFi and it was all free

the town is about 15 min drive away. so make sure you go to the store before you come up to the lodge. nice safeway right when you enter the town. we did not use the restrant on site but every we talked to loved it.

we took our two kids and our two nices ages 9-12 they had a great time playing in the creek and playing all the onsite games.

would go back again

Room Tip: 302 is nice and right on the creek and has 2 BBQs right out the front door

Every spring we take our grandchildren to Christopher Creek but, this year, for the first time, we rented a 2 bedroom cabin at Kohl's Ranch. We were so very impressed by everything, from the front desk reception staff to the housekeeping staff to restaurant. A schedule of activities is provided, such as the Saturday night bonfire with S'mores.
The cabin was larger than I was expecting & very clean. Plenty of utensils, glasses, dishes... a full size refrigerator, an oven (small, but large enough), a small dishwasher, dish soap, dishwasher soap, dishrack, dish towels. ... even a mixing bowl, casserole & cookie sheet. Hot pads/pot holders in the drawer. Plenty of closets with plenty of hangars. Comfortable mattresses, including in the sofa sleeper, 4 pillows per bed &they were fluffy. Lots of large bath towels, hand towels & washcloths. Huge back deck.
The grounds are well maintained. Basketball court, covered veranda, putting green, kid's playground, Frisbee Golf, Bocci Ball with everything necessary to play available at the front desk. Free cable TV & free wifi. A nice pool, saloon & game room. DVD player in the cabin with DVD movies free to use also available at the desk.
Free laundry room (2 washers, 2 dryers) with free laundry soap.
We didn't see deer but, we did have wild javelina in our yard, plus Bluejays & squirrels on our back deck.
Absolutely beautiful place! ! Horseback riding was not available, as they were renovating the area but, they did have notification for Patterson Farms, a phenomenal place with phenomenal people.
We had a blast & are looking forward to the next visit! !
Our only recommendation for the place is for coat hooks behind the front door & another hook, or 2, in the bathroom for the hanging of towels.

My husband and I stayed for 3 days and 2 nights. We were welcomed by a very pleasant reception desk. The resort is absolutely adorable and cozy. Our room was over the top! The patio faced the creek and pines. We read books, played bocce ball, ate every meal at the resort, and watch movies in bed. Karen was our server at Zane Grey restaurant on site and she was FANTASTIC. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. We truly can't wait to come back!
