Great birding and interesting history about the native population and their nomadic lifestyle. You can still see remnants of where they set up temporary housing (circular indents) while on fishing/whaling excursions in the area. Enjoyed the scenery tremendously. Bring a hair clip because it is WINDY!

One is here surrounded by beautiful detests, rich sea life in pure un pollutes seas, thousands of sea birds and wildlife and a true sense of isolation. The panamerican highway ends here an one can drive no further south. Beyond here there is only the archipelago and the wildlife reserves of chile and Rrgentina tht make up the real south of South America - off-limit except to the military and wild anaimals. Quite apart from the isolation and the spectacularly rugged scenery, this really is the furthest south that you can go without a boat.. Worth it I'd you are here...

You have to do this, just for historical reasons! It's also beautiful to take the wooden pathway after Route 3 and any car route ends, go a little further, and then stare out at the archipelagos that extend from the end of the world!
