“We had fun...but”
Reviewed 27 January 2011

There was no fresh snow the week before or during our visit. The mountain is quite fun otherwise...shame about the snow. The village is alive during the day but completely closed at night which was disappointing.

“Awesome”
Reviewed 28 September 2010

It was very funny. I recommend to anyone who likes to ski/snowboard or who wants to learn! There are great schools. I recommend doing some research before you go, because the prices can be different.

The end of the season Sept 2010 was great, just a little bit crowded... The lifts are a little bit older and slow which bothered me a lot. The slopes on the North side of the mountain were not well maintained enough. It could be better!

Prices were good!

Snowtubing and Trineos are ridiculous. For those who wants to do that I suggest to go to Piedras Blancas.

“There for the skiseason.. have you got the budget for it!”
Reviewed 2 July 2010

Bariloche is set in one of the most beautiful areas in the world. Some of the views are really very amazing, but if the skiing is what you are going for, make sure you have some spare cash! Although Bariloche is considered the most upbeat ski resort in the southern hemisphere, they havent figured out the upbeat discounts and ticket options that are avalible for people there for over a week! if you are not a local with a security number, the options are this. Day passes, or the most expensive season passes I have heard of in my life! For this, you get one resort only to ride, and 30+ days to pay it off. Buses are not as frequent as often indicated and fares vary depending on where you ask. So be prepared to blow the budget. if I were thinking of doing a season in Bariloche,... I would check out New Zealand.

“all kind of activities”
Reviewed 28 June 2010

The cathedral moutain offers all kind of activities.
In winter, skiing of course!! many runs, all type of difficulties.
plus walking to lodges, Frey is on the other side of the mountain, you ll need speciall equipment for that, and maybe plan to stay over the night.
Motor bikes to travel around the area.

It opened just yesterday and will continue till sep - oct.

In summer time, hiking, rock climbing, going up the chairlifts for the views!!

“Skiiing in Patagonia - Cerro Caterdal”
Reviewed 5 September 2008

Visited San Carlos d. Bariloche fm August 16-21, 2008. Skied at Cerro Caterdal 5 days. The ski area is approximately 14km outside of the town and has very good bus service or you can take a taxi to the slopes. Caterdal has a tram and a 4 person gondola to take you up the mountian as well as a 6 person chair. However, most of the chairs are slower two and three person chairs. Argentina has school holidays during August, and the slopes were very crowded. There are several on mtn restaruants to choose from. You can rent everything you would need to ski from boots, skis, poles to hats, gloves, ski jacket and pants. The lower mountain did not have very good snow coverage but they do have snow making equipment. The best in bounds terrain is up top with the best terrain accessed off the Nubes quad. The views from the top are very nice. Beware fo the cat tracks that traverse the mtn. They are not always well marked and you could suffer injury if you are not paying attention. Several skiers crashed onto cat tracks during the days on the slopes. The grooming is not the best. They just don't do a good job of making nice corduroy groomers. You can buy multi day passes for the mountain. A one day pass is about $42.
