A group of friends and myself spent the afternoon floating down the river through Salt River Tubing. The water is crystal clear and nice and chilly against the rough heat of Arizona. They allowed us to bring speakers and coolers on the tubes. There were a lot of groups on the river the day we went. It was one of my best Arizona memories! Keep your eye out for the wild horses.
Great way to cool off and enjoy the Sonorian Desert. Water level and flow of the river depends on the amount of water being released from the dam. Fun bus runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day weekend. Tube rentals available so you don't need to buy one. Make sure you bring sun screen. Please pack-in/pack out garbage. Don't polute the beautiful river or banks. Don't wear anything that you don't want to lose. You will need shoes that stay on your feet as you will have to walk in the water and there are big rocks. Coolers are allowed-no glass. You will get wet. You might even luck out and see the wild horses on the banks. College students and alcohol regularly. Party area so you decide appropriateness for children but all ages are enjoying the river. Sheriff often has alcohol testing sites on both roads leaving the river so don't drink and drive.
Been going for many years never had a bad experience!
Respect the environment and cleanup after yourself.
Follow the rules and enjoy!
We had a great time with our kayaks going down the river. Beautiful views, wild horses, perfect weather! A few of tipped out kayaks in the “rapids” but it was loads of fun. If you are coming to town you can rent kayaks or tubes for floating. Plan on a few hours and bring water and sun screen.
This year the river was higher so it was a very enjoyable day trip.
Tubes can be rented on site. No glass containers are allowed. Wear sun screen no matter the color of your skin because you'll burn!
Bring lots of bottled water to drink!
Such a relaxing and serene experience. Was able to space ourselves from louder party people and enjoy the ride (older couple here). Bring towel to put on tube -they get hot in the sun. Pick up your bum going over rapids or you might bottom out 😀 Staff was nice and helpful. Bus driver very friendly. Going back next weekend for last ride before they close for season. You can't beat the price or the experience!
