This is a tastefully renovated and thoughtfully designed apartment that combines historic charm with modern comfort and convenience – two baths, full kitchen and laundry facilities, a spacious outdoor terrace, plenty of closet space for an extended stay. I was there on my own but it would comfortably house four (a double bed in the bedroom and couches in the living room that could serve as two twins or be put together as a double). It is in a good building with a beautiful courtyard entrance (a rarity in the city) and an excellent location. Plaza Dorrego, the main square in the historic neighborhood of San Telmo, is a five or ten minute walk, and Parque Lezama, a wonderful place for a stroll, is just a block to the south. There is a row of cafes and restaurants right across the street, and many more bars and restaurants in both directions. I became a regular at several local establishments during my three-week stay. I liked it that central Buenos Aires, La Boca, and Puerto Madero were all walkable or a short cab ride away, and that a number of bus lines stopped nearby. It’s well situated for many of the city’s main tango spots as well as theaters and music venues. I have been to Buenos Aires a dozen times or more, sometimes in apartments and other times in hotels, and of all places I have stayed this was the nicest, most comfortable and best located.
