Owner description: The PALACIO illustrates and pays tribute to THE DIVINE COMEDY written by DANTE ALIGHIERI. This building shows a unique architectural style, mingling the neo-Romanesque and neo-Gothic appearance followed by the dome, with its original hindu design, which belongs to the region of Bhubaneshwar. It represents the tantric union between Dante and Beatrice, both protagonists of The Divine Comedy.

“only if you have the time”
Reviewed 7 January 2012

Palacio Barolo is on Avenida de Mayo near the Plaza de Congreso. There are tours on Mondays and Thursdays from 2 - 6pm or at 8:30 pm. It's about 45 minutes for the afternoon tour and an hour for the evening one. The afternoon tour costs $50 pesos and the nighttime tour is $95, which includes wine at the end. I went to the afternoon tour and I was not very impressed. You cannot really see east on Av.de Mayo, only west facing the Congress building. This is unfortunate as I really wanted a picture of Avenida 9 de Julio so I can show how many lanes there are. Also, maybe because there was only me and two other people, the English portion of the tour was very brief and left out a lot of information that was given in Spanish. He would speak in Spanish for a long time and then only say a few sentences in English. Not something to do if pressed for time.

“Impressive”
Reviewed 6 December 2011

See with your own eyes and you'll agree with me. It's just difficult to photograph due to the trees in front of it, but it surely impress. Some people say that this building is a twin brother of another in the same style in Montevideo, Both are superb.
