Spent four wonderful nights at the Casa Do Terreiro do Poco. Had a lovely room, well-furnished , with a private terrace beside the pool. Our hosts Rita and Joao were very warm and welcoming. They guided us to some great restaurants in Borba and region and helped us plan our daily itinerary. The breakfasts were excellent with a wide variety of local cheeses, meats and fresh bread, as well as Rita's home made yogurt and jellies& jams. We were given a tour of the new extension opening soon. A former winery, it has been renovated with imagination and flare - each room is absolutely unique. The Casa is a great base from which to visit the castles, wineries, and towns of Alentejo.

Very helpful from our initial booking enquiry. Easy to find location, although parking congested. We had a great room with shaded terrace that was next to the pool and guests lounge. Breakfast was traditional style with as much as you wanted. I would have liked fresh fruit to have been included. The home made yoghurt was excellent. Advice on local restaurants was helpful, as was explanation of their speciality dishes. Local attractions were described along with directions
and opening times. Very congenial accommodation & helpful hosts

Stayed here as a family with two kids under 11. Borba in itself is a bit disappointing, a few churches and convents that could be worth seeing if they had been open at anytime during the day (midweek). Owners of Terreiro do Paço are friendly, even if a bit too eager to tell us what to do at all times. We just wanted to relax after a long journey (as one does), but we're immediately told we had to go to Vila Viçosa and see this and that, and go here and there after that. For dinner, even after we told João that we were unsure of where to go but we would gladly just play it by ear, we were still enquired what our dietary preferences were, and that he would book the table for us. What time? I don't know, we had kids with us, and we were on holiday, not a business trip! Also a bit disappointed with being given a camp bed and a sofa bed as kids beds, without this having been specified at time of booking. Breakfast was absolutely delightful, though.

I stayed here in June 2011 for four nights. I have never experienced a better service in any hotel I have stayed in earlier. Juan and Rita were helpsome and superfriendly., they could recommend restaurants and places to see in any of the nearby cities and also in Lisbon and Cascais where we were going after our stay in Alantejo. Breakfast was delicious. The garden and poolarea was quiet and beautiful. The room was a little dark - but had nice antic furniture. Our room had a private terrace facing the pool area - we loved the terrace.
I will recommend this hotel to anyone going to Alantejo. Borba is a charming small village in Alantejo, about 50 km drive from Evora. Eating out here was really cheap. We had dinner for two (Bacalao) with a bottle of wine, dessert and coffee and only paid 20 euros for the meal.

The room was clean, although in the moment we stepped in, the smell of moist kicked in. The gardens, inhabited by some weird marble figures, weren't well kept.
The location was central, but without a single parking space, and the street was so narrow that we had to park in the sidewalk, and hoped the car survived the imminent scratching.
The room space and presentation was nice, the tea pot still had the water of previous visitors. The TV, not that important, was the size of a pocket size book. The room was dark and the views dreadful.
The service was awkward, the various situation seemed to come from a dark humor TV show. The region has many great quality products, but still the breakfast was poor, in quantity and mainly in quality.
The worst thing is the value for money, they just don't belong in the category that they want to belong. There are other options in the region and that are probably better choices than this "hotel".
