“Make the trip and enjoy the food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 January 2014

A friend has been inviting us to dine here and we finally got down to it - it was a very good experience.

The place has that cozy appeal of home and none of the commercial air that some restaurants tend to have. The crew is very efficient. We were number 7 on the wait list but once we got our table, we didn't wait very long for our food to be served.

We did not ask them for their best seller but we enjoyed what we tried: grilled pork belly, pasta and pizza. I recommend that you try the pizza when you go.

Parking seems to be the problem here but they have people outside who try their best to find you a place to park in that small street when the official parking lot is full. The location is quite off the commercial area as it is in a residential area but it's easy to find. I'm sure the locals nearby can easily give you directions.

What really surprised me was the prices of their food. They are reasonably priced - you can enjoy good food without the strain on the budget. If you can help it, go there on a weekday to avoid the weekend crowd. Otherwise, be prepared for the wait.

“Good food, better value”

Heard of Cafe Lidia from my nephew. He has been telling me to try it out. Because he frequent the place together with his workmates he said the food there is very good.

Since holiday is not yet over, together with my family we decided to have our dinner at Cafe Lidia.

First time to dine there, i was surprise to see the place full packed when we arrived, we have to wait to be seated. The place is impressive when we enter, it has a homey vibes. It's like an old spanish era type of house which they turned into a very nice and simple place for dining.

Located in Calderon Street, Calumpang Marikina, inside a long stretched of residential houses it is accessible to the people because there are jeepneys passing by. Parking is a little to hard especially during peak hours but it's manageable.

For a start we ordered the nachos and buffalo wings. A little bit spicy but i like it. Just right for my taste. We also had the mixed seafood marinara and the pasta with tuna and bacon. Both are delectably good! For dessert we had a slice of red velvet and marshmallow chocolate cake to die for. Yummy! The price is very affordable. We are four and yet our total bill is only P1,025 only. Not bad at all!

The staff are very attentive and the service is fast and effiecient.

I find the place neat and clean. Even the toilet, it's spacious.

With that, i will surely come back for more.

Will definitely recommend Cafe Lidia to all my friends.

“Good Food is worth lining up for!”

Dinner crowd is crazy but the food is delish! I live a few blocks away from the restaurant, it's our family's go-to place for comfort food. Portions are big and really great for sharing. Just a reminder, no seat reservations, walk-in and wait patiently. You Must try the Roast Pork Belly! Please don't forget to drop by this place if you are in the Marikina area. :)

“surprising good cafe in marikina”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 November 2013 via mobile

lived near marikina for more than a decade... never known that there is a nice cafe within my vicinity...

the cafe has a good homey appeal...
however, be sure that you are seated on the ground floor and not on tje second floor... service tends to be slow at the upper level... and service personnel is relaxed rather than attentive...

their foods are ok... its cheap with average to above average tastes....
the pasta in olive oil with anchovies, tuna, tomato is highly recommended...
it is not over powering... i hoarded it to have a few more bites than my friends...

desserts are good...
be sure to have a taste of the blueberry cheesecake and the old fashion chocolate cake...

a caution...
be prepared to wait for a few minutes to be seated...
their place is busy...
which is the best indication of the ratings of this cafe...

“Out of the way but popular”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 October 2013

Despite it's hidden in one of Marikina's side streets, Cafe Lidia never fails to pack the house no matter the date or time. What is surprising is, the restaurant doesn't even have banners pointing to it on the way there. You'll know you're there when you see their giant sign on their nearby parking lot. Their popularity is mainly due to word-of-mouth, which is a good indicator about the quality of their food.

Cafe Lidia serves Italian-inspired comfort food. When I finally went there after years of getting intrigued by the huge crowds every night I pass by, we tried their signature Pasta de Lidia and their Mixed Seafood Marinara. Both were pretty good and flavorful, and can surely hold its own even when placed among establishments located in Metro Manila's restaurant districts. We also had their House Special Pizza which is basically their version of "everything on it". It's served on thin crust and it's pretty good.

Since we tried only 3 dishes, I scanned the other tables of what seems to be the more popular dishes. It seems Boneless Crispy Chicken is a favorite along with their Nachos. The Nachos in particular is pretty generous and judging from the price on the menu, offers tremendous value compared to more popular chain restaurants.

Most of the patrons seem to be residents. As the restaurant gives quality international cuisine and service without leaving the boundaries of Metro Manila's easternmost city. For Marikeños, it's easy to understand why it is regarded as the city's best restaurant. However, if you're a non-resident and is curious about Cafe Lidia's buzz, you might be disappointed, that despite the relative difficulty of finding it, you can get the same meals and quality in other places, though not as expensive.

Still, if you're curious, you can follow the Marikina-Pasig jeepney route going into Marikina from Dela Paz Ave in Pasig as the jeepneys pass in front of the restaurant. If you're bringing a vehicle, the quickest route is via Marcos Highway, make a U-Turn in front of Jollibee/Mang Inasal at the corner of De La Paz Ave (just past the Santolan LRT2 Station) and turn right to the street where jeepneys are making their unofficial terminal. Follow the road and turn right when the road becomes one-way. Just go straight and Cafe Lidia will be to your right, the parking lot to your left. Easier still is following the aforementioned Marikina-Pasig jeepneys.
