“Fine dining.”

Morgenhof is a wine estate, with a restaurant serving delicious fine dining meals, bit more expensive, but to be expected from a wine farm.

“Very pleasant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 March 2012

The picture in the wine-route brochure does not do it justice - it is a lovely place. The old historic buildings have lots of character and everything is extremely well maintained. Informal meals are served outside on a patio area under a shady tree, a "garden-cafe" . There is another larger patio and proper restaurant around the corner but that was not operational lunchtime mid- week when we visited in February. Only three or four tables were occupied - all by foreign tourists - enjoying a leisurely lunch or maybe just a cup of coffee, or glass of wine - it is that sort of place.
The French ownership is evident in the formal garden of clipped lavender hedges in front of the state-of-the-art tasting centre. It is a huge long room - looks very new and very modern... maybe a function room as well. Wide stairs, marble I think, curve down to a "foyer" where you can see into the cellar. When we visited there were no other people tasting so were able to spend a enjoyable half-hour chatting and sampling with the very pleasant local chap in charge of the tasting.
I get the impression they focus more on weddings and functions so during the week it is a good place to pop into for a quiet interlude. It is particularly gratifying to see the meticulous care taken to preserve SA's cultural heritage.

“A lovely spot for a lazy lunch under a vast tree”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 November 2011

We have been to this restaurant on several occasions and always found the imaginative food to be good and excellent value. It is a wonderful place to enjoy a leisurely lunch under a large tree on an hot day. On one occasion, a European ambassador and his party were at a nearby table ~ so if it is good enough for them................

“Lovely wedding at Morgenhof”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 May 2011

We got married at Morgenhof on 16 April. We had our ceremony in the Perdestal and the reception in the Gazebo restaurant (seats 60).

It was a great weekend. The food was incredible, we had greek salad, rump steak and creme brulee, all cooked perfectly. Everyone at Morgenhof was lovely to us, and so hospitable.

We stayed in the Manor House, which was a real find. We had lunch there the weekend before, which was great - fantastic food at good prices.

We'd recommend Morgenhof for a wedding, or just for lunch or breakfast, or for winetasting, or for a night in the Manor House, where you can rent out rooms individually and breakfast is included.

It was a wonderful weekend, thank you to everyone there.

“Outstanding Lunch with quality local cuisine”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 February 2011

I stopped by the Morgenhof winery and had an excellent lunch in their outdoor restaurant on a Saturday in January. I was very impressed with their food selection. I had a wonderfully refreshing cold soup with melon, followed by a great venison (wildebeest according to the waitress) with sweet potato fries and veg. It was hard to chose because there were several wonderful looking choices on the menu. The atmosphere was pleasant, and the waitstaff worked hard and were very attentive without being pushy. I would recommend to others looking for a good meal during their wine tasting tour.
