This is an amazing place to stay. We will never forget this wonderful winery and the gracious people that work here. We stayed at Seidelberg Wine Estate for 2 nights on our recent trip to South Africa. We stayed here on our 4th night in the Cape Town area on our way to Port Elizabeth via the garden route. We also stayed here 10 days later on our last night in Cape Town to catch a connecting flight. They actually stored our purchases from the first 4 days of our trip and had them waiting in our room to pick up for the return flight home. We had traveled on to J-burg, Sabi Sand, Kruger and Vic Falls and appreciated not taking them with us. Seidelberg is a beautiful winery sitting on a hill with views over their vineyard and the valley beyond. The have a gourmet (but not pricey) restaurant that serves meals during the day and the largest hand blown glass factory in all of South Africa. On our first night is was pouring rain and of course we were running late since we kept stopping at wine estates along the way! Chanda, the accommodations manager, met us at our room and was waitiing for us. To call this a "room" does not do justice. Our accommodation was actually a large barn like room - at least 30 by 50 feet. It has a thatch roof and large wood burning fireplace. The flat screen TV, the fire, the rain on the thatch roof, and the canopy bed is quite a memory! They have a wonderful sunken bathroom, a dry sauna and a pool. Your private balcony has views of the vineyard. In the adjoining courtyard you can sit on the patio while you eat. For breakfast they deliver you a basket at the time of your choosing. The basket includes warm bread, cheese, meat, jam, and juice. You have a kitchenette in the room. On our last night there we flew in to Cape Town one evening and we were not flying out until the next night. We rented a car and drove the 45 minutes out to Seidelberg. Since we could not arrive until 8:00 pm Chanda arranged to have dinner waiting for us to heat up. We had chicken curry, rice, potatoes, vegetables, and bread pudding for a nominal price. The next morning we enjoyed a long walk through the vineyard to prepare for the long flight home. Perfect - this rates as one of the best places we have ever stayed and we love to travel - enjoy!
