High quality seafood plate for my travel companions. Very nice atmosphere but was a bit cold sitting outside in September (we did not make a reservation in advance.. oops) Vegetarian option for myself was unexpectedly very tasty. Would recommend this restaurant for anyone visiting Hermanus.

After our very poor experience at Eat early November last year, it was with some trepidation that we agreed to join friends there for supper. Suffice to say that Eat redeemed itself totally! The atmosphere was welcoming, the service very friendly and professional and the fish dishes excellent. Eat has re-established itself as one of our favourite eateries for informal evenings out.

We went for dinner with friends we had not seen for many many years. They seated us in a smaller room, which was great. The service was good, everybody happy with their dishes, tempura prawns, good, but the batter a bit too thick, calamari good, pear and blue cheese salad nicely plated, but enormous portion.Pork belly, delicious, ribs tasty but not tender, very chewy. Wine list good. Will think about going again

In the past we had a number of very pleasant lunches and dinners at Eat, but our last visit (a Sunday lunch) was very disappointing. The the staff are not properly trained nor really interested in serving. The grilled hake was not very tasty and nearly underdone, while the dried-tomato chicken was still cold (barely defrosted) and were returned to be heated up properly. We were surprised that the management did not react to this with an apology or explanation. The portions were quite small and the plating very average. This is now a case of “once bitten, twice shy”.

Popped in for a quick lunch. Service was outstanding with a bubbly and friendly waitress (I didn't get her name) who made jokes and interacted with the group, We had the special seafood platters and hake and chips one fried and one grilled. The food was outstanding, well presented and good value. The wine list is also reasonably priced which helps
