Highly rated for the great experience....nice to have a delicious 5 course meal with folks from around the world....the Netherlands, France, Brazil, South Africa, and the USA were all represented. The restaurant accommodated my wife’s gluten free (celiac) diet while presenting really interesting and tasty dishes. The 1st course was Hake fish with a crunchy nut crumble. The 2nd course was seared ostrich with a hoisin-like sauce and fresh greens that was cooked perfectly and really flavorful. The 3rd course was a soup with carrots and vanilla with a chili con carne and a mild chili popper rolled in chickpea flour and deep fried. The 4th course was cheese with homemade crackers and smoke-flavored beet root jam. The 5th course was dessert — pancetta with strawberry jelly and shortbread with cream and marmalade.

The food was amazing. Service was very good. A few not so amazing details...The order in which the meal was served was unorthodox and a little strange. The greens served with the duck were very strong flavored and overwhelmed the delicate duck flavors. The wine pairings were quite strange and not particularly to our liking, especially the order in which they were served (switching between white and red and then back again). The only other complaint is that it was quite loud in the dining room and difficult to hear what other guests were saying.

We chose this as one of the evenings eating experiences in Cape Town - and it worked out really well. It seemed to be in quite a dodgy part of town, but in fact we didn't have to worry, and once inside the food and company were a real treat. Not all the courses worked 100% - our runny cheese course was an acquired taste, but taken overall it was a very different and enjoyable night, and the wines were good and varied. To be recommended.

The Social Table concept is a great concept, which my wife and I had already experienced and enjoyed in Tuscany some years before. Meeting people you have never met before around a good meal and a few glasses of wine is a great way to "break the ice" and is very definitely part of the overall enjoyment of the evening at the Social Table.
Also greatly enjoyable, is getting to know the Chef Julia, her passion for the food she prepares and her enthusiasm in communicating with the people who come to share this culinary experience. The experience is completely different from a "classic" restaurant, were just about your only communication with the Chef is to read his menu and, if you are lucky, a minute at the end of the meal when the Chef might come to your table to inquire about your meal!
This all being said, my wife and I both found that the food served to us was very good, but not outstanding considering the general quality of the better Cape Town restaurants. The wines ..., well really nothing to write home about, again considering what South African premier wineries are able to produce.
So, whilst we really enjoyed a very good evening, for the price paid, we were hoping for a somewhat more outstanding experience

Certainly different - and if you’re a visitor to South Africa expect to be surprised by where your driver is taking you to!

Julia is an expert chef and host, and you will not be disappointed (though undoubtedly surprised) by the food and wine you are served.

The fish was undoubtedly the star for me, and the cheese course the most challenging. My wife found the focus on red wine at the expense of white to be difficult (though she only had to ask for more white to appear!).

In a city with so many fine places to eat, Reverie has definitely found a way to successfully differentiate itself.
