My sister & I stayed at The Apartment in Bali Bay for 3 nights. We loved it! The Apartment is spacious and had everything we needed. The views are simply gorgeous, and it was really great to be within easy walking distance of the Camps Bay restaurants and shops.
The garaging is a little tight, but that's our only (very small) gripe. Beverley (the manager) was ever helpful, including at 8pm at night when we couldn't get the fridge to work, which we eventualy solved later (very important to keep the Cape wine cold!). We certainly didn't have an issue with security. And as for the noise, sure, it's on a busy road, but the road is the only thing between you and the sea - what a pleasure! And the road was quiet at night, and it was lovely to hear the sea all the time.
There was some construction going on next door (actually it was fascinating to watch the cranes) but it certainly didn't interfere with our stay.
I can highly recommend the Apartment in Bali Bay to anyone looking for a relaxing break in Cape Town. Although it is self-catering, the nearby restaurants make it easy to eat out without driving, so you can have the best of both worlds.

My partner and I spent 6 nights at the penthouse apartment at Bali Bay. Before arriving, my partner had had significant correspondence with Beverley, the manager of the apartments, to clarify concerns about security and noise. He also expressly asked about construction in the area as we were looking for a relaxing, quiet location for our holiday. He was reassured that there was no construction nearby, and that road noise was minimal.

When we arrived, we were therefore very disappointed to find out that apartments were being constructed on the second site to the left of BB Apts, complete with crane, and further apartments were being constructed about 150 m away to the right. Beverley tried to explain this away with the comment that the crane next door hadnt been there when he made the enquiry, but we felt she had definitely misled us as to the construction situation, as both construction sites would have been well underway at the time of our enquiry. We also found the road noise at night/early morning somewhat loud as Victoria Road is a main thoroughfare. So, if you are sensitive to noise, we would suggest you reconsider this accommodation. At the very least, we would recommend the penthouse over the other two options due to the height from the street.

With respect to our security concerns, the apartment is accessed by a security gate to the street and is also alarmed. If you are particularly sensitive to security issues, you may wish to reconsider this location - although the police station less than 5 mins away would be a deterrant to any would be intruder! During the time we were there, we had no issues from a security perspective although my partner locked the interior bedroom door each night to be safe!

As to the rest of the apartment's features, the location is very convenient - only a 10 min walk (on pretty much a flat road) to the Camps Bay shopping/restaurant precinct. The flat walk is a huge plus given Camps Bay is pretty much built on a steep hill! It is also an easy drive over Kloof Nek to the city area/Table Mountain so is very convenient if you wish to visit the better restaurants in town (we highly recommend Jardine)!

The apartment was spacious. The bedrooms were well appointed although the furniture in the living/dining area is a bit tired and out of keeping with the bedrooms. The upstairs lounge area leading out onto the plunge pool is a waste of space in our view - the furnishings here were useless and if they invested some money into comfortable couches this would be much more pleasant. The plunge pool/upstairs deck area is very spacious - unfortunately the construction workers nearby look straight down on you!

There was more than enough by way of cutlery, plates etc and the servicing of the apartment every day (other than Sunday) was excellent.

The view is beautiful and it is very relaxing to sit on the balcony and watch the sea. While some websites advertised the apartments as being opposite a beach, the beach is tiny and the bay it overlooks is full of kelp beds, so not appropriate for swimming - although it makes for an interesting outlook! Sunsets are great! The main Camps Bay beach is so close that if you wanted to swim in the sea, it would not be inconvenient.

Given all of the above, I am not sure we would stay again, mainly as the noise factor annoyed us - but other than that we probably would, esp if we got the same kind of deal of 2000 rand a night vs the 5500 that was advertised for the peak season on the website! It definitely isnt worth over 2000.

We had the Penthouse for a week and it was really great. The two doubles have beautiful sea views but the small twin room is dark, but with so many other sea view options from the apt, it doesn't really matter! The Penthouse isn't cheap, and there were only 3 of sharing it, but it is spacious, with amazing views and a top terrace with pool, BBQ and seating area (there's a fridge and shower up on that level too!). It is fully kitted out with everything you would need, and they even leave previous tenants basics like washing powder, olive oil etc which saves you buying your own.
There were a few 'maintenance' issues but nothing major and Beverly was very receptive to us informing her of these. But there was also only one key between us, which posed difficulties when we were out at different times.
Overall, a great stay and close by the main drag and beach. The apts are on the main road, but it is quiet at night and noise wasn't an issue. I would definitely return!

We stayed in the studio at Bali Bay for 6 nights. I must say the owner / proprietor Beverley was extremely nice to deal with when making the booking and gave us a very good discounted rate which worked out at €75 per night for the studio.

The thing to note is that there is no reception at the property so you will have to ring ahead to make sure they are there to meet you. The man who met us there (presumably one of the owners) was not the politest of people and his first greeting was "We were wondering where you were!!!". In fact we had arrived half an hour prior to when we said we would arrived. His welcome was certainly not warm. He also came in during the week to fix a problem we had with some trip switches going on the fuse board. He made no attempt to be discreet about going through drawers and cupboards in which we had some of our private stuff. All in all quite an ignorant man.

The studio itself was perfect for two people and was clean. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was more than adequate. It could do with some refurbishment as the decor is a little tired and there was some peeling paint. The only problem we had was that the alarm was malfunctioning a bit and went off a few times and we had to deal with a rather inept alarm company. However when I contacted Beverly(the owner) she assured me that she would deal with it when it happened again.

The location of the property is fantastic and is about 3 or 4 mins walk to the main strip and beach in Camps Bay.

Another big advantage of the property was the lock up garages available. You get a remote control on your keys to open the garage when you arrive and leave.

Finally a small gripe I would have with the property is that it is on the main road (perched just above it) and at rush hour (i.e. 7am - 9am in the morning) there is alot of noise from the road. The windows and doors are a little old and could probably do with being replaced with more modern sound resistant double glazing.

All in all a lovely little studio in a great location. I would return but would not pay huge prices. It was excellent value for the price we got it at considering its location.

We chose this place for its location in Camps Bay and views of the sea, table mountain and the twelve apostles. However the website did not prepare us for what we actually got on our arrival. We were met by the owner’s husband who informed us that the Studio we had booked was not available so they had upgraded us to the apartment for free. The reason “well its empty you may as well enjoy it”. A fantastic start and a great attitude from the owners! The studio we booked was a lovely self contained room but the apartment was a huge 3 bed roomed luxury apartment. Well decorated and appointed with a huge balcony affording excellent views out to sea. The owners were very welcoming and had stocked our fridge with a few basics (milk, juice etc) and even an ice cold bottle of Chardonnay! Across the road is a private bay for you to use.The main Camps Bay shops and restaurants are literally a 5 minute walk down the road. A great location for experiencing Cape Town and the Cape Peninsula. Highly recommend Bali Bay Apartments.
