It was Easter weekend, and we had just arrived in the city to find that pretty much everything was closed. Tripadvisor told us that the hotel and the restaurant would be open, so we gave it a shot. The building itself is beautiful, although in many cases it was clear to see that it was in need of some attention. I am, in addition, not the biggest fan of Cecil John Rhodes, so it was a bit disheartening to see quite a bit of him around in the hotel. But let's focus on the food. We stopped over for a quick lunch. Service was attentive and friendly. I tried the grilled hake, which was delicious, and my partner tried the chicken burger, which he also enjoyed very much. We found ourselves back there the next day for lunch (also because everything else was closed). Again, it did not disappoint.

We dinner here with friends and were quite underwhelmed. The room was stuffy and hot despite us asking for the air con to be turned on, and the dress code (semi formal) didn't allow for cooler clothes.

The waitress was friendly but the waiter was cold and sighed when we asked for more time to order. Our steaks were really tough but the sauces good, and the deserts were okay.

I suggest it as a stop for the History and ambience of the place - it is beautiful and fascinating - but don't expect too much food wise.

What a little gem we found in downtown Kimberley. This well known landmark of Kimberley offers a quiet and perfectly located haven to spend time and have a decent meal while doing so. Take time to breath in the heavy historic atmosphere.

A small lunch menu illustrates that less is more. The club sandwich does not dissappoint. The burgers looked great on the way to another table. Service could be a tad brighter. But all in all do not pass the KC by when stopping over in Kimberley.

Stopped in for a quick drink and decided to try the light lunch menu. The chicken prego rolls that we all ordered arrived very soon after our order was placed and were very tasty indeed. The beer was cold and served in an ice cold glass. Worth a visit.
