This is the place to stay if you want both the Blyde Canyon and the Kruger National Park, through the not very busy Phabeni Gate. Ilara , Robbie , Kirsty & Reese Robertson will tell you all the details and tips, from where to put fresh water frogs, to handling Kruger in your own car.
Ilana is a fabulous cook. the breakfasts are wonderful, with fresh fruit, and everything is imaginatively presented. She caters for all tastes, with seasonal dishes and excellent vegetarian menus.
The swimming pool is large and well maintained. The rooms luxurious, and very clean. And Reese and Kirsty are beautifully behaved and friendly. This is the place to unwind and enjoy yourself, but with lots to do, if you want..

Room Tip: The three suites we stayed in were just right. Sometimes some furry monkeys jumped on the roof in th...

Had an amazing time at Plumbago - the family were so hospitable and nothing was too much trouble. Our kids loved playing in the pool and getting to know Kirsty and Reese. The attention to detail in the rooms was fantastic and definitely felt very spoilt. This was our best accommodation we stayed in, in South Africa and a perfect place to stay after a long flight and before going into the Kruger.

We would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone going in that direction.

A really warm and cozy place to stay, both in terms of the room and the hosts. We stayed several nights while exploring the Panorama Route on our honeymoon. Our room was enormous, well-decorated with lovely details. Every day our suite was overflowing with lush flowers from the garden that decorated the bed, sitting area and bathroom. The suite overlooked beautiful grounds and gardens. In addition, Ilara and Robbie (and the dogs!) are fabulous hosts, with a lovely staff. Generous breakfast spreads of fruits, cheeses, meats and breads were provided with something cooked if we wanted. But what most distinguishes Plumbago may be its warmth; you feel as if you are staying with friends.

I cannot say more about the wonderful experience staying at the Plumbago Guest House. Ilara and Robbie Robertson make you feel like one of the family and will cater to any thing you request. The food is fantastic and the rooms are large with fresh flowers and a pleasure to stay in. If you truely want a five star lodge experience; this is the place to stay.

Our family of 6 stayed in this lovely place in September 2011. Ilara and Robbie and family were extremely welcoming and very helpful in planning our activities for the day. Lovely spacious rooms decorated with fresh flowers from the garden. When not out exploring the local area our kids played soccer on the lawn, swam in the pool, or played hide and seek in the lush gardens. This was a refreshing place to stay after a long flight from Australia and before heading off to Kruger.
