Lisbeth and Steen are great hosts.
We arrived very late and were exhausted from ourtrip but they they made us feel home and comfortable from the very first second.
The food (we had dinner and breakfast) exceeded all our expectations. The rooms are very clean, big and furnished with a very good taste.
Lisbeth is a very warm-hearted and smart character. We particularly liked the fact that everything she does is arranged with attention and love to detail.
Thanks for our wonderful stay!

We had to visit Hoedspruit for business and stayed at River House. The worst part of the weekend was that we could not spend time at this really beautiful and relaxing place!
We loved having breakfast outside with huge bushveld trees, the river and birds all adding to the joy of a new day.
Lisbeth is a wonderful host, caring for her guests and cooking with love! We appreciated the attention to detail and would definitely be back!!

Lisbeth and Steen welcomed us with open arms to their atmospheric, thatched home adjacent to the hippo-occupied Olifants River. We arrived in the evening and immediately relaxed surrounded by candles and the sounds of the African bush, while we looked out upon fireflies darting above the dark river below.

Lisbeth is an amazing cook, and it was a special treat eating her wonderful meals outside under the stars. Lisbeth also sent me the recipe for her incredible chicken liver pate.

Lisbeth and Steen were happy to share stories of their experiences with the various animals who visit their home (including cheeky monkeys, who have led Steen to guard the breakfast offering from their strategically thieving ways).

We couldn't have been happier and cannot recommend River House enough.

We had the three most wonderful nights at River House, coming from the bush and going back again for photography tours in Kruger, this was just an paradise, relaxation, still being close to/in the nature and the river this is an oasis.
The rooms are of high standard with your own shower and lots of space, not to forget aircon and river view from each room. The treatment from our hosts Lisbeth and Steen was so natural and loving that we absolutely felt like home, amazing food and wine

This is absolutely not the last time we are here and it's most recommended!

We spent two nights with Lisbeth and Steen and enjoyed it a lot! Upon our arrival shortly before dusk [recommendation: ask for instructions how to get there beforehand because the GPS does not find the lodge and it is easy to miss] we were shown our room and handed towels so we could take a short swim in the pool. Before the delicious two-course dinner Lisbeth had kindly prepared for us (because we liked it so much, we ordered dinner for the next evening right away), we were treated to a nice aperitif.

Just like the lodge as a whole, our room was tastefully decorated in 'African style'. The bathroom was very spacious. Nonetheless, we only spent time in the room to sleep because it was so nice to sit outside on the terrace until late.

Like dinner, breakfast was served for us on the terrace. When we came down in the morning, the table was nicely set and there were fruit salad, delicious cheeses and cold cut as well as homemade bread and paté. Lisbeth also made great omelets.

The lodge is well situated for trips to discover the surrounding area. We spent the day doing a boat tour on the Blyde River dam (around 45 min drive from the lodge) and driving along the panorama route with stops at the various highlights. Being very knowledgeable about the area, Lisbeth and Steen offered us a lot of good advice on what to do and see. Upon request they also organize tours themselves.

Lisbeth and Steen are great, easy-going hosts who immediately made us feel 'at home'. If we ever come back to the area, we will definitely stay with them!

Room tip: both rooms are the same so no need to choose
