“No-good coffee was just the start.”

We had breakfast and were very disappointed in first of all the coffee and cappuchino. The coffee was weak and not very tasty. We had hoped for a good coffee for our first cup of the day. We ordered the eggs benedict and felt let down yet again. The waiter came back to say there was no spinach. What arrived was eggs under a hollandaise sauce with an artificial colour which did not taste like a hollandaise sauce at all. The bread looked like yesterday's buns which had been compressed while presumably being toasted. The presentation was slap-dash at most. The 'hollandaise' seemed to have been slapped or thrown on and the dishes looked unappetising upon arrival. Maybe they should not call the dish eggs benedict at all.

A server that dragged her feet along the floor & didn't appear that thrilled to be on duty told us that there was no avo for the Rostis we ordered, no Green juice & no Freezos available (the machine has been broken for a week!)... need I say more...?!

The place is obviously busy but the perception and impression does not live up to Fournos in Dunkeld (Johannesburg) - the flagship outlet. It's a little on the dirty side and tables aren't cleared / cleaned fast enough to give a good impression when you walk in.

What was not good to see was the waitress picking up spoons from cups (at a table people had just left) and then using the same people's left over water to rinse the spoon, before drying and getting ready to use again. Put us off completely as you wonder if they treat everything else the same way.

Our waitress welcomed us wit a smile and serv d us well though.

We checked out all the baking then found a table and ordered a Cafe Latte, OJ and a large Chelsea bun for two. Table tops were not too clean even after the gal wiped them. Service was good. The latte was hot and the Chelsea bun sweet, fresh and tasty. It gave us time to surf the net with the airports free 30 minute WiFi.

My impression of airport cafes has not been good. However, I was in for a surprise when we stopped at this bakery for our breakfast. The staff was very friendly and helped us patiently with menu selections. The food was delicious and portions were ample.
I would also like to add that one of the passenger left his back pack in the bakery. After inquiring with the other guests, the staff kept the bag in safe custody.
