I was invited to a Conference and had no clue about this hotel. Used to be the Governor's residence, I am told. Has a colonial air (only just) but has all the mod cons. Rooms are average in size. Excellent showers. DSTV great, WiFI very stable and seamlessly available throughout the hotel. Breakfast is terrific (reason enough to stay on its own). Go for the buffet dinner
The staff are the gem: very friendly, exceedingly helpful and will go out of their way over even small things. Thanks Mohammed!
The grounds are worth it in summer. The bar could be cosier.

Room tip: Back facing rooms are not exciting. Ask to face the car park. New extension best

The staff were very helpful and friendly, the room spacious and the beds very comfortable. Lovely to have the old world feel. There is a small gym on site, which is useful. Breakfast was excellent - a huge spread from which to choose.

The hotel is historic. There is an older part of of the hotel (which I don't recommend at all) and a new part. Visitors will certainly want to stay in the newer part of the hotel. The older part is VERY old. Very small closet, Only 1 outlet in the room, none in the bathroom and a super small closet.

The new part of the hotel is very nice. lots of closet space, dresser drawers, nice bathroom, TV and the wifi works well. However, there is no mini frig (at least not is the room we were in). Be sure and bring electrical convertors adaptable to Africa outlets. There are both 3 round prong and 2 round prong outlets. There is also a super large 3 prong outlet. I've never seen 3 prong this large before but in going to the stores and malls they do sell them.

The dining room is very nice and the selection is pretty good. Large buffet selections as well. The Pub bar is nice but opens late in the day. The outside grounds are beautiful with huge trees and lots of flowers and greenry. I'd stay there again. Plus it's in a more upscale part of town with hotel shuttels to take you anywhere within 5 km at no charge, just a tip. More than 5 km will cost you something.

A trip from the hotel to the airport by taxi will cost about $30 usd. The currency is the African Rand. At the time of this message it was 14 x1 usd. Today is 10/3/18. Hope this helps someone.

Room tip: Only stay in the newer part of the hotel.
