We stayed at the Kurland on August 11th.
On the site the structure looks beautiful and as such it has been sold! Instead we found ourselves after a long journey from Cape Town in a cold room (in South Africa it’s winter) with an old stove just turned on and a chimney that wasn’t enough to heat the room.
Crumpled sheets that looked like they had not been changed and all around little care, stained fabrics, dirty patio. Old carpet. Nothing that we expected. Manager not present and staff totally unprepared to manage the situation.
The solution proposed to us was the addition of an old and totally useless stove. We had 2 rooms. When the next day we met the hotel manager, she was definitely annoyed by our complaints.
This is an example of how things can be sold well ... and thus present a completely different form of substance .. Probably the kurland will have been a great hotel a few years ago.
It's just true that the common rooms have charm and reflect the British atmosphere that is mentioned on the site.
We left the property 1 day in advance.More
