I went solo on a business trip. I sat at the sushi bar, and didn't feel out of place. The owner and his wife both were ingratiating and friendly.

The sushi chef was friendly and conversant, and prepared an excellent sushi platter. There was yellowtail, salmon, tuna, sweet shrimp, Eel, octupus, and more.

There were many other restauranteurs there, and a lot of repeat customers.

I will be back whenever I need another sushi fix!

Friendly and good service in a cozy small place. They change a little the happy hour tataky salad that still good, but personally I was preferring the previous version.were the jicama was not present and were a little better dressing and more pieces of albacore were used with less greens. What made the dinner a very positive experience was the black snapper from the restaurant kitchen. Perfectly cook was on a bed of julienne catted baby asparagus and mushrooms with the right quantity
of a creamy dill sauce in top. Very good.

Finally, we have found a wonderful Japanese restaurant in the Chandler / Phoenix area. Located in a small place in the South/West corner of Dobson and Warner Road. The several items we tried were simply wonderful. Japanese cuisine is best described as simple, straightforward, fresh, colorful, balanced, and artful. Shinogamo executes on all of these.

From the appetizers, sushi, sashimi, ponzu, and teriyaki is all homemade and freshly made. It is important to know and understand there is truly a difference from freshly made, and from a bottle. Shimogamo is a true blessing, especially if you want to eat traditional Japanese cuisine.

Happy hour (5pm and 7pm) is a great time to stop by for a beer or sake, and a light small appetizer plates.

An A+ and great place to eat.

Having read previous reviews and being a devotee of sushi, I had high hopes for Shimogamo. Sadly, the food, for the most part was simply average. The highlight of the meal was the fried Gyoza. The fried oysters were over breaded and the sushi was not particularly fresh, attractive or tasty. The service was attentive and friendly, but we would not return for the food.

I found this little restaurant to be very friendly and it was frequented by a lot of locals that were visiting regularly. A bit of the "Cheers" of sushi restaurants. The quality of the food was excellent as was the rice to fish ratio.
