We are snowbirds. We had a 12 hour drive this day. We arrived at opening, 7 am, friendly server, quick service and excellent meal. We both had the "Kitchen Sink Omelet", it has 3 eggs with lots of vegies, pieces of sausage, bacon and ham, also cheese. The breakfast potatoes....flavourful and yummy! We were stuffed! (probably should have shared). Now at supper, we still aren't hungry. Second visit here and not disappointed. No doubt we will start our 3 day drives home with a Rock Spring Cafe breakfast every Spring.

The men's bathroom was by far the best part this tourist trap. We stopped for lunch around 1:00pm Saturday on the way from Sedona to the Phoenix airport. Upon arriving we had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. After being seated the drink lady was pretty good. Kept us refilled. Then another several minutes for the very, very old waitress (who sounded like she's been smoking since birth) to meander over to take our order. She informed us they were out of all but the rhubarb pie and we balked a bit (pie is what they're known for and was the only reason we stopped there). She copped an attitude after that. We waited about 20 minutes for our food and she never checked on us after that. We had to pry her away from a conversation she was having with her friends to get the check. We will never be back.

Believe it or not, some friends we made on a small-ship cruise of Croatia recommended this place when they learned we were coming to AZ for a visit! They said the pie was great; and it is, albeit a bit pricey by my standards ;-). The whole-pie selection was huge and greatly varied as to variety; all in the $25 range. Pie by the slice was available in the cafe at about $5; $7 or so for al a mode. We stopped by for pie but ended up staying for lunch. They have a peculiarly strict policy to be seated. Everyone must sign up for seating at the front desk and give a phone number to be texted when seating available. OK; no problem. The odd part was that we were told it would be a five (5) minute wait, which turned out to be closer ten (10); but there were only three other tables occupied, and the wait staff was literally standing at the end of the counter talking among themselves. Not a particularly busy time at the ol’ cafe. None-the-less, the meal was good and price reasonable. The onion rings were great, the burgers good, and the pie was worth the stop.

The atmosphere, attitude, look and feel of the place is really cool! The pie is most definitely 5 Star. The burgers and fries, very average 3 Star. It’s a mixed review of 4 stars. It’s an experience and I’d suggest going.

Hidden gem at the Black Canyon City exit off I-17 north of Phoenix. The breakfast burrito was scrumptious and filling. My friends enjoyed their biscuits and gravy and Big Sky breakfasts (size of pancakes were a bit disappointing). Service was phenomenal with a waiter and helper constantly filling our delicious, hot coffee. Don’t leave without their homemade pie. Tip: if you fill up at the gas station next to it, you get a free piece of pie ($4.95 value).
