“Trip of a Lifetime - 5 Star Plus”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 March 2012

On the occasion of our 35th wedding anniversary, my wife and I wanted to go on a trip of a life time. We chose Bora Bora because of its incredible beauty and romantic location. In selecting a resort to stay at on Bora Bora, we carefully reviewed all of the resort information and chose St Regis over the Four Seasons, in part, because of the beautiful landscaping leading out to the overwater villas from a central island and superior view of the mountain. Not only were we thrilled with our choice, we were amazed by the service that we received. Marion, the concierge, and assistant manager, Marc, put us into a beautiful villa with a knock out view of the mountain.

We exeperinced gracious service at every turn. Our personal butler, Rahanee, was absolutely extraordinary. Marc, Marion and Rahanee, along with many other staff persons at St Regis, made our experience beyond a 5 Star rating - it was 5 Star Plus.

The food was incredible and graciously served at their 3 restaurant locations - all with beautiful views. The lagoonarium was one of the highlights we'd recommend to anyone - a pure delight to swim with tropical fish in a natural and protected environment!

The St Regis Resort is without question the most beautiful resort we have ever seen in many years of travelling. However, it was the focus on service that distinguishes St Regis Bora Bora as one of the finest, if not the finest, resort in the world.

This hotel exceeded all our expections. My husband and I decided to splurge for our 10th wedding anniversary and from the moment we arrived at the airport St Regis staff were there to see to our every need. We were given a bottle of water and checked in on the boat ride to the hotel, once there staff were waiting with cool scented towels to refresh ourselves with an iced tea to drink. After that we were given a tour of the beautiful resort on a golf cart while our bags were taken to our room.

We were lucky enough to stay in room 103 the first of the premier overwater bungalows overlooking the lagoon and Mt Otemanu and personally the one we felt was the best in location, close to the resort facilities as well as the amazing view! We couldn't wipe the smile off our faces and spent the first afternoon in the jacuzzi, drinking champagne and snorkelling around our bunglaow admiring the fish and rays!!!! The rooms in the bungalow were huge and exceptionally well appointed, the bed was like sleeping on a cloud. The butler service was wonderful, our room was serviced morning and we were given fresh bath and beach towels at the evening turndown as well. There was only on time that our turndown wasn't completed by the time we came back from dinner. Every turndown we were given a bottle of water each and a tin of cookies which were absolutely delicious! And as we were away for our anniversary we received a complimentary flower turndown and they made us a cake that was brought to our room which we thought was a nice touch.

After having read a few reviews myself I was worried about the food, especially as I dont eat seafood! We had a complimentary breakfast included and we also got the meal plan for lunch and dinner. First of all we didn't need the lunch! At breakfast you were offered waffles, crepes or an omlette and then were able to choose from a huge hot and cold buffet. If you sat at a table either in the Aparima bar or at Te Pahu any time before 6pm you were bought a selection of fruit, dip, chips etc to snack on before your meal which again was delicious and filling. For dinner you were always bought an appetiser regardless of which restaurant you dined in and were given a selection of sweets after dessert or in lieu of if you could fit them in. We only ordered dessert twice while we were there as by the time we had eaten an appetiser, entree and main we were absolutely stuffed. I will admit the menu doesn't change and they don't have a special of the day or anything like that, but with the 3 restaurants and the food at the Aparima bar whether you are swim up or out of the pool there was plenty of variety even for someone ike me who doesn't eat seafood (my husband was in seafood heaven) and you can have as much as you like. There was not one meal we came away unsatisfied, the staff were willing to help with any meal request and in the week we stayed there we spent an extra $17 total to top up our meal plan for meals at the restaurants and that included the meal at the Lagoon restaurant. We liked having the meal plan as you didn't have to worry about the bill on checkout. On average our 2 course meal including drinks was around $150 which i didn't think was too bad considering I usually drank 2 cocktails with the meal. Drinks are a little expensive $20-$25 for a cocktail, $22-32 for a champagne and $7 for a beer, but as this is the price we would pay for these items at a restaurant and even some bars in australia (except the champers) it wasn't unexpected. We did get the canoe breakfast delivered one morning and that was $170 extra. No...we did not get $170 worth of food but the novelty of it was nice on our last morning at the resort and we were offered a ride on the canoe as well. They have a Polynesian show and buffet dinner on a wednesday night that was also worth the money, there was a huge variety of food that was very tasty and the show was lots of fun, ask for table number 33 or 34 we sat at 34 and were right at the front.

As for activities, aside from snorkelling with all the fish in the lagoonarium there are the tennis courts and plenty of free canoes, paddleboats, hobie cats and more on offer to use for free at the main beach. We also paid to do the jet ski tour around the island which was amazingly beautiful and lots of fun, it is definitely worth the money and a must do at this resort. We also went to the Miri Miri spa and had a couple of massages and I got the purifying facial as well, once again we couldn't fault the service or ambiance of the spa. It was expensive....probably $50 more than I would pay per service at home but again you are at a 5 star resort, you can't expect discount prices. The last tour we did was the 4x4 tour of the main island. As my husband and I do alot of 4WDing at home we expected to do a bit more than just go on a few tracks but it was still worth the money. Our driver took us to several locations where we could lookout over the lagoon and motus and we went right around the main island, he was very informative and had lots of little facts that only the locals know, to be honest there isn't much there to see apart from the view but we did have lunch that day at The Lucky House (recommended by our guide) that had a huge selection of food. We got woodfired pizzas that were delicious, that cost us about $65 including a cocktail for myself and a beer for my husband. He also took us to the supermarket where we picked up some beer and local chips to take back, it wasn't an expensive tour and we were still happy we did it. We would have also liked to do the yacht cruise and hiking but somehow ran out of time! The resort has a shuttle that runs every hour to the main island and back for free so it is very accessable for meals and day trips.

All in all our holiday was perfect! Yes, it was expensive but you definitely get what you pay for at this 5 star resort! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, knew our names, were constantly offering us a ride in the carts from our rooms to wherever we wanted to go. The weather was magical, apparently March is still their monsoon season but we had blue skies everyday with 2 days where it rained for 5 minutes and was back to blue sky. The resort grounds were well manicured and beautiful plus there is always the view! It was truly paradise, we definitely want to come back and I can 100% recommend this resort to anyone looking to come to Bora Bora. On our jetski tour we saw all the other resorts and St Regis looked to be the most beautiful and with the largest bungalows, to be honest, we wouldn't stay at any of the other resorts in Bora Bora after having stayed there and seeing the rest. This hotel is Luxe on a tropical paradise theme!

Room Tip: If you are staying in a premier ask for room 103, or 102 if you are in a deluxe. Check out their fac...

Everything about our stay at this resort was top notch. The airport boat transfer to the resort on their own yacht, the complimentary breakfast (particularly all the smoked / raw fish choices and fresh local fruit), the rooms, the beach, the views, the staff, the spa, the grounds, the restaurants, ... Everything was done to perfection. Any concerns were taken care of quickly and completely. Definitely recommend doing as a package deal (/w airfare) thru Pacific For Less. We used them as a result of good reviews on tripadvisor and they definitely lived up to expectations. MUCH more reasonable as a package deal. Nevertheless, be prepared to spend a lot for meals and drinks. Both are done well, but a meal for 2 is minimum $100 US + drinks, and each drink is ~$25 US. There are other slightly cheaper options on the island of Bora Bora itself, but it is a bit of a process to get there. On resort options are convenient and will not disappoint with quality and attentive staff. Thank you St. Regis for memories that will last a lifetime!

Room Tip: Best to be facing Mt. Otemanu, but villas 230 / 231 are good choices as well

The St Regis is truly a first class hotel! From the minute they greeted us at the airport, everything was seamless and truly top notch! The resort is beautifully nestled on one of the outer Motu's and feels very secluded. We felt like royalty in our superior over water villa. We stayed 5 nights and wish we could move in full time! The grounds are beautifully kept and the area is very quiet and romantic. They also have free bikes you can ride around the property with. The Oasis pool had 5 cabanas you can rest in during the day and has beautiful views of the mountain. The conceriege arranged dinners for us and a snorkeling excursion and we did not have to stress about anything! An amazing hotel that ended our honeymoon perfectly!

Room Tip: We had a view of the lagoon, not the mountain but we were able to see beautiful sunrises. Im sure th...

I HIGHLY recommend this resort. It is paradise! We stayed 5 nights in the overwater bungalow (highly recommend the bungalows). Beautiful outdoor deck with a ladder to climb into the ocean. WORTH the money for this resort and to get here.

The top things that appealed to me about this resort were: the daily complimentary breakfast buffet (it had such an amazing selection, with beautiful waterfront seating - only complaint is it had the exact same spread of food each day), and the amount of activities they had at this resort! Kayaks, sailing, jet skiing, bike riding (bikes are very old, with flat tires and rusty handles, so ride at your own expense), tennis courts, spa (for the $ I did not feel that the spa was truly worth every penny, but it was still nice), three restaurants to choose from and of course the pool with the swim up bar. 5 star service at all times. You can also take the shuttle boat from the st regis into the main town for dinner (recommend to try it one night - other than that not much to see there). A true luxury resort + experience!
