A lonely (in the off season), windy, expanse of soft white sand, Suoeste is a piece of paradise. We have seen turtles, golfinhos or dolphins, penguins (unfortunately once we found a dead one covered with black oil), and of course, crabs and different birds. At the very end towards Pontal, the fishermen bring in the boats rolling them on tree trunks. I´m told that if you help they will share some of their catch. The waves are pretty strong and the water is somewhat cold but that is not an obstacle for those coming from colder climates. There are a couple of pousadas, but mostly it is residential and fabulous if you want to be away from crowds and in contact with nature.
