As a whole, the waters around Raro are beautiful. The marine life never dulls you and your always on the look out for Nemo and his friends. Snorkel is a must as is wearing your water shoes. If you go out a little further you may well see a turtle. Not really a place if your after swimming like at the beach or pool, more of an adventure swim. The weather at this time of year is still very warm.

Don't really have to put flippers on! Just walk out at low tide and watch the fish. The Rarotongan Club side is more family friendly.

The snorkelling in this lagoon is the best I have experienced, including Roatan. The north end by the public access is the best with lots of coral heads and channels through at high tide. At low tide you can walk quite a way out if you are not a swimmer. The diversity and size of the fish is amazing. You must visit the reserve. Just do not get too close as some of the fish will nip you. They are protecting their nest.

There is great snorkeling in several places around the island. This is one of three popular spots which won't disappoint.
