We decided we didn't really feel like dressing up and going out to a restaurant the night we went. Just felt like a simple meal in simple surroundings with a view of the sea. Flying Boat delivered on all of these. Eating out is never cheap and especially in a very tourist orientated environment, so it was great to get good food, fresh fish and friendly service for just over $20 for the two of us. Sitting at picnic tables in the moonlight right on the beach was lovely. The cat was very interested in our meals too, but sorry puss.. too yummy to share!

Do call in to this one. It is worth it even for the undercover seating with an excellent view of the whales passing by, boats chugging back and forth, dive boats moor just off here, or late afternoon you can see the waka (canoe) training teams going back and forth. We stopped here often. The Fishing Club behind the Flying Fish doesnt open until 1pm Monday to Saturday (if you are looking for a beer or wine to go with your meal). Also the flying fish opens from 4pm on Sundays (watch out of that one!) and the Fishing Club stays shut on Sunday.

We ate there several times and also had takeaway - always fresh, but smaller portion sizes (definitealy and adequate size)

Stopped here for lunch - nice and sheltered compared to the windy southern side of the island. Nice lunch with a fantastic view - one of our group even spotted a whale which was very lucky.

Lovely fish and chips in a relaxed friendly setting. Price seemed fair enough and was very nicely cooked.
