We just returned from our French Polynesian honeymoon and this hotel was the highlight of our trip. We also stayed at Le Meridien on Bora Bora which was also wonderful but Le Tahaa was truly special and stands out as the highlight of our trip.

Everyone said the food would be terrible and overpriced... this was a complete lie!! The food here was wonderful and way cheaper (not cheap but not horribly pricey) than on Bora Bora. The breakfast, lunch, room service and dinner was incredible. I would return here just for the food if possible. The only thing we didn't care for was the cheeseburger, literally everything else we ate here was divine. The service was outstanding (perhaps a bit slow and on island time but you're on your honeymoon so whats the rush). The setting and atmosphere were also incredible

We stayed in the beach villa (#51) and it was amazing. We had our own private plunge pool, outside bathtub, and private area of the beach (sting rays visited us frequently!) with amazing views and ocean breeze. It was nice to have your own separate bedroom and living room plus outside space. We felt so secluded yet pampered. All of our needs were met and exceeded. I couldn't think of a better way to spend your first few days as a married couple.

The only downside was the amount of mosquitos, we went during the dry season where they are supposed to be less than normal but OMG were we eaten alive. Inside wasn't as bad but outside we killed hundreds of them as they tried to feast on us. The resort does provide spray which kind of works but there is only so much bug repellent one can use.

The drift snorkeling is one of a kind, I've been snorkeling all over the world and I can honestly say that this was a very special experience. The fish are plenty and the drifting is awesome. It is very very shallow in parts so you do have to be a fairly strong swimmer to avoid scratching yourself on the coral though, I would not try and take children. The entire resort seems to be geared towards adults and honeymooners in general and we actually didn't see a child our entire stay (a major bonus in my book).

Overall I would recommend this place 100%, it's so authentic, private and well kept and not the commercial idea of french polynesia that one might expect (Le Meridien was sort of like this but also very enjoyable in it's own right). I am so excited to return here for anniversaries in years to come. The entire staff are so welcoming and accommodating.

Room Tip: Beach villas 51, 48, 49 for privacy

We thank you very much for your nice comments, it has been a pleasure to host you and your husband !

We are sorry to hear that you had some issues with the mosquitoes; we will start in september 2018 to implement a revolutionary and ecological new process in French Polynesia in order to remove the mosquitoes from our motu. This program is conduct by the institut Louis Malardé , who has already experimented this process at the Brando in Tetiaroa.

We are looking forward to welcome you back soon,

Mauruuru Roa

It’s difficult to find the right words to describe a piece of paradise on earth.. The room, the Staff and all the facilities of the resort are simply perfect.
The coral garden is simply a wonder. Do not miss the whole day Jetski tour around the island, it is an unforgettable experience.

Tahaa is a small island close to Raiatea, the best if you like loneliness and peace. The resort (relais e chateau) is in the middle of a huge lagoon, the water has unbelievable colours, fishes are swimming every where visible from inside your bungalow. The comfort is high level. Rooms and bathrooms fantastic.
The restaurant is french-fusion style: we personally do not like that kind of cuisine, but we cannot tell the food was bad.
Very expensive of course.

Thank you very much for taking the time to share such lovely comments following your recent stay with us.

Our motu is a little paradise very remote and private, we are glad that you enjoyed the peacefulness.

Due to the location, it is true that in French Polynesia food are more expensive than most of the other places in the world.

We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back soon,

We liked Le Tahaa a lot! We combined it with a trip to bora bora, Moorea and Tikehau and Le Tahaa was our last stop before heading back to Europe.
Overwater bungalows were very spacious. Le Tahaa is an absolute must for everyone who loves underwater scenery. some of the best snorkeling in my life. They have a small canal with a strong current that takes you along a beautiful underwater scenery. Its a great place to unwind and relax.
Staff was very friendly and food was good.
They also have a small gym and a spa with traditional massages that were great.
would recommend for some days before hopping to another island in french polynesian paradise :)
great for couples and honeymooners or small families :)

I spent here with my family five days in a beach Villa that was really comfortable. The restaurant is a top quality restaurant, maybe one of the best we tasted in our
holiday.
Beaches, services and housekeeping amazing. Unfortunately mosquitos, bad Wi-Fi service and not so high-level of professionality as far as the staff is concerned, make us rank such hotel less than a five stars Resort.

We truly appreciate that you took the time to write a review on your recent stay at le Taha’a.

We are delighted to read how much you enjoyed your experience with us from our restaurants, beaches, services and housekeeping.

Even if we are truly sorry to read that mosquitoes and bad wifi make you rank the hotel less to a five stars hotel.

We will start in september 2018 to implement a revolutionary and ecological new process in French Polynesia in order to remove the mosquitoes from our motu. This program is conduct by the institut Louis Malardé , who has already experimented this process at the Brando in Tetiaroa. if you have the opportunity to come back in a few months you will be able to enjoy a pleasant stay without being annoyed by mosquitoes!

Concerning the wifi, the hotel will be linked to the main Island of Tahaa by an underwater optical fiber before the end of the year , which should largely improve our internet connection .

Looking forward to welcome you back at Le Tahaa Island Resort and Spa once those problems are solved.

Mauruuru Roa
