Huahine lacks public transport and so staying at Chez Guynette was great for convenience. Marty and Moe are very hospitable and we were very comfortable with our stay. All amenities are a short walk away. Marty's in house cafe makes great smoothies!
The beach is literally across the road.

The only drawback to the accomodation is that by being located in Fare, it's located in relatively high density area (by Huahine standards). Had we chosen to stay in a more spacious bungalow accomodation out of town though, we would have needed a car to get around.

A great place to stay for convenience, friendliness and access to the main beach of Fare.

  • Liked — Convenience and Friendliness of staff
  • Disliked — Located in a high density area (ie: centre of Fare). Huahine itself is quite spacious

This is definitely the antidote to the overpriced resort hotel. We stayed in the dorm. There was only one other bed occupied so it was quiet. There are people wandering through from the restaurant to use the bathroom during the day so I did move to the other side of the room rather than have people walking past my stuff all day.
The restaurant is definitely the place for lunch and people watching. The beach just a short walk away is beautiful and empty. I walked out to the end of an abandoned dock and read for hours sitting in the sun. The restaurant across the street is probably the best place for dinner but everything is expensive so on two nights we bought food at the supermarket and cooked our dinner in the kitchen at Chez Guynette.
That same restaurant is the only place open at night - this is not the place for those looking for after dark fun things to do.
And mosquito repellant is a must!

It was so much fun at Chez Guynette. Everyone there really makes your stay memorable. Marty and Moe Temahahe know about everyone on the island and all that there is to do. One of my favorite things was just sipping a smoothie and watching the people go by. The children on that island are so friendly and everyone wants to try out their English. Go to church on Sun. morning if you want to hear the best singing. This island makes you feel right at home. (That is if you live in paradise!!!) But if you only get to take a peek at paradise, do it from the terrace of Guynette's. You won't be disappointed.

Chez Guynette truly is the place to be for people who want a clean and friendly place to stay.

It has rooms for reasonable prices and a dormitory which is great for people on a budget.

The restaurant serves the best food, for breakfast and lunch, on the island. Or just go for a smoothie or a Hinano. Don't forget to try Moe's ribs!

Everybody goes to Guynette's to meet and then get on with their days. Usually going back in the evening to say goodbye to the sun. It is the local's hang out so you can truly mix with the people who live on Huahine.

The owner's, Marty and Moe, are wonderful. They can tell you about anything on the island, the people, the history, where to go and what to do. They go out of their way to help people, not just people who stay at Guynette's.

They have acess to the internet as well. You buy a card and use the internet.

The hotel has been under renovations and is better than ever. It is not fancy at all. It is very basic, but is in the middle of town and the perfect place to stay if you want to walk around town or swim at the beach across the small street.

They are also remodeling the whole kitchen in the restaurant. Should be done by September 04.

People who go to Guynette's are treated like family and will always be remembered and welcomed if they ever go back.

So, if you want to experience the warmth and fun of the people of Huahine and expose yourself to the local color, Chez Guynette is the Place To Be.

This is not a luxury hotel, but it's on the main drag in Fare, the biggest town on the island.

Sitting in the outdoor restaurant and watching the harbor and the passers-by is delightful.

Marty and Moe, the couple who run the place, are charming and funny.
