Stunningly beautiful Viennese cafe within the National Theatre. Sumptuously decorated and staffed with plenty of smart waiters. Comprehensive menu and great cakes. Check out the ceilings.

Writing this while I am sitting at the cafe waiting for my bill for 25 minutes. Asked for a espresso, the waiter has shown a bit angry "just one espresso?". Yes, I just ate at another place, so I am trying the espresso in here.... took 15 minutes to arrive, had to ask for it several times. Taste wasn't good at all and now I am waiting for the check.

Alma de Café, a cafe inside the National Theater, in San José de Costa Rica, is a classic-style place, in tune with the building that houses it, where you can try the regional coffees from the best brands, accompanied by desserts and snacks very well served. Ideal for making a stop while visiting the city. Keep in mind that in Costa Rica, coffee is served in 300 cc bowls.

We spent merely an hour here on the first day of our Costa Rica trip. Coffee was nice. My friends ordered salad and the portions were generous.

It was around 5pm on Sunday and it wasn't crowded. No wifi, so please chat to each other.

Stylish decoration.

Located within the foyer of the National Theatre building, we stopped by for a quick coffe after a tour of the Theatre itself (that's not to be missed by the way!)
So impressed with the look of the food being served up to other patrons we decided to come back for lunch and were not dissapointers.
A vegetarian panini and a mushroom crepe with a side of fresh vegetables and a water cost the quaver of usd16 including local taxes which was fairly reasonable
Certainly a good fall back in the district where fast food of dubious quality predominates
