Where do we begin? I think the best way is to let you know about a most wonderful and extremely delicious restaurant/gallery we found in Costa Rica called La Bastille! Now THIS is southern hospitality meets Costa Rica at it's finest!Owner/Chef Thomy greets you, seats you, (no you're not dreaming your table is covered with a hand painted table cloth!) serves you, cocktails first (the wine Thomy served me was superb!) and then sends your taste buds on a delightful whirlwind starting if you wish with the homemade pate, escargot, or the soup or the day OMG! However any of the appetizers you choose will be a home run! Next the salads fresh and delicious topped off with homemade dressings. Then it's time for the main attraction the entrees. His homemade (my choice) prepared at your table steak tartar is the best I have ever had even better than Sardi's in NY.! My partner had the beef stroganoff (spicy) prepared special for him just like he likes it! Those were our choices but whatever you choose I'd bet money you will find absolutely divine! We can vouch for a lot of the menu choices because we have been with others and rave reviews came from them all! If that weren't enough and you saved room for dessert and coffee (we shared the homemade custard!) you won't be disappointed! This so to speak IS the icing on the cake! With all that said if you are ever in Costa Rica or plan to visit, La Bastille is a must! If you are a foodie we highly recommend taking a special trip just to experience one of the finest restaurants in the world! Gene Fedeli and Edward O'Connell, Baltimore Maryland
