We stayed in the house up on the hill above the hostel for two nights, amongst coati and agouti and capuchin monkeys and howler monkeys and iguana. The house is absolutely lovely, well-appointed, and ideal for a family of 5 (or more). There is a loft, two well-sized bedrooms, a great kitchen, and a fantastic deck for a long, luxurious cigar. The operators are super-personable, the breakfasts tasty, and the walk to the beach is just a matter of a few minutes. That being said, Montezuma can be lively at night, and this property is removed just enough to avoid the noise entirely.

Not a single negative word to say.

Room Tip: The house above the hostel is large, clean, and perfectly priced.

This is a great hostel. It is in a great location - right in the jungle but a few blocks from the beach. The breakfast is amazing. They even made sure we got breakfast the morning we left really early. Very clean hostel and friendly staff!

Hands down this is one of the best places I’ve stayed on my travels. The rooms are surrounded by the forest and all the wildlife that comes with it. The owners are incredibly helpful and ensure you have the perfect stay. A modern eco hostel, incredibly clean with comfortable beds and pillows. Each bed has it’s own fan, light and power socket. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Montezuma and look forward to returning one day. Muchas gracias por todo.

What a wonderful gem in the jungle. We rented the house and loved it. It was spacious clean and safe. The staff treat you like family and the breakfast is great. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Montezuma to stay here. The location is walking distance to everything even when pushing a stroller! ;)

My two friends and I stayed at Luz this past weekend and had the best time. The staff was super friendly and gave us great recommendations for food and art stores in the area. The rooms were comfortable and had their own bathrooms, which was a plus. It also doesn't hurt that Montezuma is a cute artistic town with a nice beach. (Early december is a good time to visit - all the stores are open, weather is nice, and not too many tourists)

Room Tip: dorms have lockers and bunk beds
