Me and my girlfriend spent a couple of days in Casa Buena Vista from which there are some nice views to be seen from the property as the pictures depict. In the area are a handful of very nice restaurants and there is a relatively small grocery store a couple of minutes walk uphill. The beach is also relatively close, approximately 10-15 minutes downhill. You need to be in an ok shape to do all the hill walking and drink loads of water during the day, but that is only normal due to the Costa Rican climate.

The average guest that visit Casa Buena Vista are most probably of the quiet type, as we seen several couples coming in and out of the property but never really heard any noise. We had an own room with bathroom but spent one night relaxing on the downstairs veranda, which is pretty big I'd say. There we prepared some food in the kitchen, listened to the night wildlife which was also rather silent.

We needed to leave very early to get to San Jose on time, however we did get a quick breakfast served. The breakfast were by the way ok, good enough to get you going on the morning walk to the beach.

On the property are cats, but they stay in the main house. I myself have allergies but I did not get more than very minor reactions to them when in the main building. There were also bats on the property, which I personally find very cool, even when they decided to wake up and fly away past our heads in the night when we came back from dinner the first night.

All in all we enjoyed our stay.

We felt so lucky to land a room at Casa Buena Vista. When we arrived, we couldn't believe our eyes. The view from the breakfast room of Anita's house AND the garage where we parked our car is EXACTLY as depicted in the photos. There are four homes on the property -the main house where Anita lives and where we breakfasted, the 5-room teak house (2 BR upstairs and 3 downstairs), a cottage, and two rooms below the garage. We stayed in the Teak House, in one of the two upstairs bedrooms. Although the bathroom, kitchen and living room were communal, except for a single night, there was no one occupying the other bedroom during our week-long stay. The other guests only occasionally came inside to put a beer or remove one from the fridge, or make a sandwich. Otherwise, we felt like we had the whole upstairs house to ourselves. Most of the guests did congregate on the outdoor deck during the day to check email, etc (where the wifi signal was strongest) and we got to meet most of them and swap stories and advice on things to do.

Anita and Nuria (sp?), her housekeeper, are very gracious hosts. Our room was simple but clean, and freshened up daily. The kitchen and bathroom had ample hot water and great water pressure - rarities in Latin America. Although we had no AC in the teak house or our room, the ceiling fans worked well and my husband was actually cold one night. it was quite a treat to wake up in the middle of the night to jungle noises and howler monkeys roaring in the night. I felt like I was in a scene from a movie!

Anita provided generous breakfasts with fresh juice made from fruits from her own garden, strong coffee, eggs "al gusto" sweet breads, homemade cakes and toast. All this in the breakfast room with the most spectacular view of the park. After breakfast, she let her four adorable cats out Mai, Mimi, Mani and Maya to meet those of us who were cat lovers.

But it wasn't just cats. We were visited by spider, capuchin and howler monkeys, who cavorted in the trees just off of our own deck. There also is a small colony of fruit bats and insect-eating bats .

The Casa is also well located. Two lovely beaches are within a 15-20 minute downhill walk from the house. One walk passes an estuary that is home to a crocodile. The other passed an area where we saw many monkeys teasing the dogs on the property along the path. You can also walk along the road uphill approximate 350 meters to the main road through Manuel Antonio Village to catch the bus to the Park or Quepos. We would definitely come back again. Thank you Anita for such a wonderful time!
