My wife and i traveled to the Manuel Antonio area and stayed at Tulemar for approximately a week. We stayed in Villa Mot Mot for four nights and Casa Panorama South for three nights. Our concierge Bill was there to meet us as soon as we got in. He showed us our villa, the property and around town. He frequently drove us around when we needed it. I give Bill 5 stars for his efforts! As nature people, we rather enjoyed the cheaper and less modern Villa Mot Mot. It was incredible and had more wildlife viewing opportunities. Casa Panorama South was good, but a little ritzy for us. Both were very clean and comfortable.

And the not so good...

My wife and i have been to some incredible beaches, so i have to say that the Tulemar beach was okay. If you want to go to a great beach, visit Manuel Antonio. Also, the food at the Tulemar beach was very pricey and was not very good. Visit the local places for a cheaper and better meal. What i disliked the most was the older gent worker at the Tulemar beach. He was rather rude and made us feel uncomfortable and not welcome. I actually though of reporting him several times, but hey we all have bad days. The remaining staff was great, especially Bill!

Overall...great place to stay and incredible area to visit with exceptional food around town.

Our family of four decided to upgrade for the last part of our amazing trip to Costa Rica. We stayed in Villa 305, which had a perfect view of the Pacific Ocean, with a hammock on the balcony. We loved the private beach that Tulemar has, along with the choice of pools. We had a really good lunch at the family pool, and at the beach, boogie boards were available for use. This was a great retreat after morning activities. We had taken a catamaran to go whale watching, which was a really fun experience. Tulemar is a large resort, but it still feels somewhat private. The grounds are spectacular, and well kept.

Our family stayed in Casa Nido de Gansos this past July and have to say it was one of our best vacations we’ve ever had—seriously, I can’t rave about it enough. Costa Rica is a gorgeous country and everyone we encountered was incredibly friendly. The beach at Tulemar was perfect--secluded, warm water, good food, and plenty of amazing animals on the grounds. Likewise, Nido de Gansos was a perfect choice for our family. Having a pool on the balcony was a blast and Sully, the sloth, who lives in a tree next to the house, was a constant source of smiles. We did the crocodile/butterfly garden tour, Canopy Safari zipline, surfing lessons, and a guided tour of Manuel Antonio National Park and we loved every activity. We also had Chef Chris cook our anniversary dinner and, wow, the food was beyond delicious. Perhaps the best part of the trip was Diego and Bill (and Vanessa). They checked in with us every day, coordinated all our excursions, and went well above and beyond to make our stay the best it could be. Truly, they are some of the kindest, most professional, and giving people we’ve ever met (Diego and Bill are really great surfers too!) This was a vacation our family will look back on with the happiest of memories. Thanks, Tulemar!

Our family of 4, stayed in Bungalow #121 in Tulemar for a week in August. David and Chris made us feel relaxed, comfortable, and on top of that, special. I couldn't believe it when we went out to eat one night and the server brought us a dessert plate that was from David at Tulemar. Tulemar itself is beautiful, the grounds are well maintained, we loved the pools, they were never crowded and always clean. We saw sloths, 2 kinds of monkeys, Morphe butterflies, iguanas just to name a few. We took advantage of the kayaks and went out snorkeling on the rocks a few times. There were a lot of beautiful fish to enjoy out there. On the beach we could get out of the sun if we wanted and relax under the trees in the shade. The kids insisted on mango smoothies at the beach and I couldn't resist, they were too good and the bartender was always kind and courteous. We went deep sea fishing out of Quepos, we did the 10 in 1 tour with ADR Adventures (highly recommend), toured Manuel Antonio National Park, and a mangrove tour with Jade Tours (again highly recommend Mario), all easy to get to from Tulemar. There were a lot of restaurants nearby, on nights when we were exhausted we easily got pizza deliveried. Really a perfect, no stress, vacation full of beautiful wildlife, fresh fruits and fish in a tropical paradise. Loved Tulemar!

Room Tip: Bungalow 121 had updated modern furnishing, very nice, and a great view of the ocean.

My husband and I stayed in the Lower Villa Mot Mot for 4 night in August 2012 for our honeymoon, and could not have been more pleased with our overall experience!

To begin, Diego and Bill are wonderful and truly went above and beyond in every way to make sure we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. They picked us up and dropped us off at the airport, took us to the grocery store, dropped us off at dinner, and helped arranged all of our different daytime tours. They really made our stay hassle free so we could just enjoy the beauty of Costa Rica, without having to deal with too many planning details. Bill even took the time to drive us around the towns of Quepos and Manuel Antonio to familiarize us with the community and point our spots of interest and restaurants to try.

The Lower Villa Mot Mot was perfect for the two of us. It is compact, but has absolutely everything you need. The balcony was picturesque, with views of the ocean and jungle. We loved enjoying the sunset from our balcony, sitting on the hammock or lounging on the chairs with a glass of wine listening to the animals all around. And the private beach at Tulemar is great. They offer free use of towels, kayaks, fins, and boogie boards. Plus the bar and restaurant at the beach make lounging on the beach easy.

The feel of Tulemar cannot be beat. It feels private and secluded, not like other high-rise hotels where balconies are stacked above and below each other. Yet it maintains all of the amenities of a full-service resort. We've already recommended this location to a few friends, and will continue to do so to any one looking for an amazing stay in Manuel Antonio.
