“Friendly staff, great sea views from balcony”
Reviewed 19 March 2012

We stayed 3 nights amid the lush gardens and beautiful ocean views. Hilda helped us arrange fun trips for our college-age kids to enjoy with their parents (zip-line and park tours, free beach shuttles.) A full-service family-friendly resort, they arranged taxis to local restaurants (Ronny's had amazing food), provided a great made-to-order breakfast every morning, and showed PG movies with popcorn every night. The swimming pools were nice, the gift/art store had lovely art for sale, the hotel restaurant was good, and the rooms seemed very private. We were in 2 connected rooms in a 2-story villa, rooms 5 and 6, with very comfortable beds, a pull-out sofa, well-stocked mini-fridge, A/C, and nice bathrooms. We awoke to the sounds of howler monkeys and birds, and the distant waves. Paths to the rooms were steep, however, and there were lots of stairs to navigate.

We had a great stay enjoying the ocean views, the monkeys walking across the tiles in front of our deck and the railing and the birds looking for their next dinner were entertaining. The adult pool is great to relax in and enjoy the great pool bar service. Service was friendly and the staff were very accommodating. The sounds of the rain forest at night were incredible. Yah, there are a lot of steps and being on a hillside that is expected but we were at the pools and restaurants most of the time which are all at a very similar level.

This is our third stay at this wonderful hotel. We love this place. The staff are friendly, welcoming, helpful and efficient. The hotel is wonderful with amazing ocean views from the reception area and all the rooms. The two pools, an adult pool and a kid's pool accomodates everyone so that families can enjoy this hotel as well as those travelling without kids. The restaurant Rico Tico where breakfast, lunch and dinner is served is just great. There are great views of Manuel Antonio, excellent staff and great food. The gardens are well maintained and are abundant with flowers, birds, frogs, iguanas and often monkeys come to visit. The Si Como No reserve across the road has a butterfly garden which is free to hotel guests and is well worth visiting. There is a night tour of the reserve and it is amazing. We saw the turtles and alligators which are in special areas as well as numerous frogs and insects. The guides are all well educated, and very enhtusiastic and the tour was very educational as well as fun - great for kids. The hotel is not on the beach but there is a free shuttle to the beach, offered several times a day. The rooms are comfortable, well equipped and very clean and all have a great view of the ocean. The hotel is one of several eco lodges and do a great job of trying to limit the impact of a hotel on the environment.

Room Tip: Room 38 the honeymoon suite is incredible, large, comfortable, well equipped and has a large balcony...

As local homeowners, we have visited the hotel numerous times and eaten in each of several restaurants on the property. Each time the food has been excellent, the service nicely helpful but not obtrusive, and the ambiance perfect. And the views... well, the views are out of this world. Our favorite restaurant is a casual cafe down several sets of stairs (or ramps) from the entry (the complex is perched on a hillside and has a lot of vertical to it!) The cafe is situated right over the rainforest, so your chances of seeing wildlife, including monkeys, is high, depending upon the time of day you visit. Ask for a table right on the railing. The staff is wonderfully accomodating. One time, we had a table for dinner with a very fussy baby right next to us, and we asked if we could move away to an area that was more secluded where they didn't even normally do food service. They immediately set up the table for us there and were attentive to our every need, despite the fact that this had to have been inconvenient for them. We were very pleased with their willingness to please and desire to accomodate.
