“Saladero Ecolodge is a remote tropical jungle heaven!”
Reviewed 29 January 2017 for a stay in January 2017

Our family, including or two sons, 22 and 26, stayed with Harvey and Susan at Saladero Ecolodge in January of this year (2017) as a part of an adventure tour with Tropical Sea Kayaking. We didn't stay in this exact rental unit, there are several lodging options and we stayed in the "Glamping Tent Cabins." They were the perfect accommodation for us 'rugged types', very comfortable, private, even romantic with silk draped walls and draped bed netting. The platform tents are set right on the edge of the primary rainforest which Harvey and Susan have worked hard to protect. We woke every morning to the howler monkey troupe calling out to their friends and foes and to the sounds of parrot and scarlet macaw overflights. What a great alarm clock! At night it was so quiet you could hear water drip off the leaves of the rainforest trees.
Susan and Harvey provide 3 healthy meals per day, gleaned in large part from the permaculture gardens of native foods they have planted on the property over the years. One night Harvey made pizza on the wood fired oven and another night we ate fish caught in the Golfo Dulce just minutes earlier.
Saladero Ecolodge offers you the opportunity to REALLY experience the Costa Rican jungle, guided by thoughtful stewards, and with running water, warm showers, icy cold adult beverages, healthy foods and great companionship. We had a great time and can't wait to book our next trip with Saladero Ecolodge.
