Small, charming and isolated motel. Lots of birds and flowers, it's Costa Rica! The dirth road to get there is bad. The staff is very nice and the breakfast included in our package was ok but with a lot of restrictions. The room and bathroom are very small and dark, and there is no water pressure in the shower.

We arrived at night and met a snake (boa) while walking the path with our suitcases. The staff told us to be very careful at nignt and walk with a light because there are a lot of snakes and it is really dark (almost no lights on the site).

I would recommand to reserve only the first night to make sure it is your type of place to make up your own mind (we were almost the only customer). We reserved five nights with Expedia and left after the first one. The owner is rude, be aware of the NO CANCELLATION policy, unfortunatly we paid to learn!

Clean rooms, quiet, excellent restaurant, wonderful staff and service, walk to surf. They had everything I wanted for a peaceful vacation. Go down to the dock or just wander around for excellent bird watching too.

Room Tip: I was leery because my room was the second from the restaurant, but it turned out to be very quiet there.

We took a water taxi from Tamarindo one hot day to have lunch at Hotel Bula Bula, we did not expect to find a little slice of paradise! The food was great with many choices, my friends particularly enjoyed the large mango margaritas, our waitress was super sweet and accommodating, and to top it all off, after enjoying our lunch we asked if it were possible to stay and enjoy the pool, the answer was yes and let me get you some towels! We relaxed by the pool with another margarita, never feeling rushed but eventually forcing ourselves to leave. We loved it so much we came back the next day and did it all over again. The owner was a gem, when he saw we had returned as promised, he dropped the towels for the pool at our table himself. :) On this day we met some locals from Tamarindo who told us this was their go to spot for a day off as they enjoy the quiet, peaceful atmosphere. I didn't stay at the hotel, but definitely would if I were looking to have a truly "get away" type of experience.

We have been home a few weeks and wish we could snap our fingers and be back. Bula Bula is truly a beautiful little oasis that allows you to relax and rejuvenate. The staff is the BEST, from grounds and housekeeping to the before mentioned restaurant staff ! Ernesto, Sergio, Ulga and Alejandro took the best care of us, met our every need, not to mention were so... entertaining. One evening we were able to share internet comments with them and they couldn't believe all the nice things people were saying about them. Wally needs to treat them well and keep them employed there. The area is great with many great hidden restaurants, beautiful quiet beach and awesome sunsets! We are planning a return visit, which, we hardly ever do. Hope they work on the roads. Shout out to Alberta residents and thanks for the info Christopher. Until we meet again! Pura Vida!!

Room Tip: Rooms closest to restaurant have better wifi, if you need to work, otherwise all are good.

Just Pura Vida. Ideal situation beautifully quiet and peaceful. Room fully equipped with AC and ceiling fan, which were both used during our stay when temperatures reached high thirties. Lovely pool with plenty of loungers. Ernesto and Alejandro the guys who ran the afternoon/night shift were brilliant and their fishbowl Margarita's were the business. The food here was by far the best we experienced during our travels across the country. A boutique hotel that punched far above it's weight. Congratulations Bula Bula.

Room Tip: rooms furthest from the bar area would be the quietest
