“Nice Property - Water is an issue”
Reviewed 13 July 2016 for a stay in July 2016

Very nice property to accommodate a large family. Spacious and up to date living quarters. There were two major issues during our stay and a couple of minor issues.

We ran out of water three times during our stay. There is a water tank on the property that needs to be filled as there is no municipal water. We were a family of 10 and the property managers knew how many there were in our party. You would not expect water to be an issue when paying the amount of money we paid for a weekly rental. You are at a beach location and you would expect most would want to shower at least once per day. We ran out of water on a Sunday and they refused to deliver water.

Second issue is the road leading into the property. A dirt road that is full of large pot holes. This became a major issue as you drive this road numerous times per day.

Couple of minor issues, property management did not supply cleaning supplies for doing dishes etc. and they did not provide paper products, i.e. toilet paper and paper towels.

Management Response
22 Jul 2016
Guanacaste Costa Rica and many other areas of Central America have been experiencing a drought (El Nino) since 2014. Up to the week of July 4th we have been very successful in managing the water shortage by monitoring H20 levels of the two tanks that support Casa Marbella and shipping water in when necessary. Unfortunately the area of Playa Grande, not just Casa Marbella, was unable to meet the H20 demands for this high occupancy vacation week. As a result, I will be providing a 10% refund on this particular weekly rental in an effort to address this issue. Going forward, I will be limiting the total number of occupants to 8 persons versus the previous 10 during the current drought in an effort to reduce the demands on the house. Also Palm Beach Estates is developing a contingency plan in order to address any potential problems in the future i.e. increasing the number of available delivery trucks in time of emergency. Good news is the rainy season starts September. With regards to the shortage of paper products, we do not supply paper towels but items of this nature can be purchased at the local general market (WilMart) which is a short walk from the house. But it is our responsibility to supply TP. Not sure what happened, we typically stock the bathrooms with extra TP under the cabinets. I have contacted the property manager and house maid to address this issue and make sure the house is adequately stocked. I apologize for this inconvenience.

“Gorgeous House, Great Vacation”
Reviewed 16 January 2016 for a stay in January 2016

This house is unbelievably beautiful. Open plan, private pool, 3 large bedrooms each with a full bathroom. One is well removed, down an outside walkway - we didn't need to use it at all. Internet service was fast and flawless, TV was good but sometimes went in-and-out a bit. The one issue we had was a problem with the water, but it got resolved really quick so just a minor inconvenience. Be aware that the dirt road into Palm Beach Estates/Bula Bula hotel (where you check in) is really really rough but fortunately only a mile or so. Beaches are to die for, esp Playa Conchal (15 min drive). Our one key recommendation is: get a GPS. Roads are not marked, and navigating without it would be very challenging. We loved it, we'll definitely be back. Thanks Becky!

“Perfect house!”
Reviewed 29 December 2014 for a stay in December 2014

Villa Marbella was a perfect home-away from home for us. We traveled with our 7.5mo old baby and the clean lovely house with a nice and fully eqipped kitchen and the pool, were perfect features for us. The beds are comfortable, the AC was nice to have but we used the fans even more. I cant say enough nice things about the villa and the owner and staff!! I was disappointed with the quality of food available in the grocery stores and restaurants but I am a food snob and costa rica in general was not a foodie destination. If Playa Grande is where you want to vacation I dont think you could find a nicer house rental!!

“The Best Ever!!!”
Reviewed 28 March 2014 for a stay in March 2014

This house was fantastic, it was our second time in Playa Grande and it was just great. The house is absolutely beautiful, the owners were wonderful. They were so quick to help us if we had any questions, lovely people. I didn't want to go home. The location of the house was perfect we had the best of both worlds, with the river and wildlife behind us and the beach steps away. The pool and the staff taking care of the pool and outside gardens were the best I have ever seen on a vacation, everything always looked gorgeous. I don't think I have to say anything more except that you will NOT regret renting Villa Marbella.

“Villa Marbella is AMAZING!”
Reviewed 19 February 2014 for a stay in February 2014

The owners of this property have thought of everything. We were in the home 5 nights and had everything we needed to make meals, sleep comfortably, watch TV, listen to music, lounge around the pool and just be together.

The house is well appointed and comfortable. There were plenty of dishes and flatware for 2 families. We all had the space and privacy we needed to relax. The entire house and grounds are well kept and very pretty.

There is a trail behind the house that leads towards the estuary and Bula Bula and there is a little store and restaurant that is a quick walk out the front door. We drove to the beach everyday, but it would only be a short walk.

There are quite a few choices at Playa Grande and Marbella is the best one. We had an amazing time and the ease and comfort of the property made it all the better.

The owner, Steve, was communicative and easy to work with. His property manager, Alyssa was the same. Alyssa kept in touch with me prior to arrival then helped us get acquainted with the house once we arrived. She got me in contact with a private chef, Frank and masseuse, Margie. Both were amazing. A house keeper came after a couple of days to tidy and clean up. We live in Costa Rica and didn't need transportation and were aware of local activities, but Alyssa can help with car rentals and tours.

The photos really don't do the property justice. It is more amazing than the photos reveal. The owners, property manager and house spoiled us and I can't see any reason to stay in a hotel or anywhere else.
