We enjoyed staying at Eladios, I really liked all the wild birds, iguana,a big cane toad , fire flies and geckos that were around. The house was comfy and we had the pool to ourselves.
We went on a adventurous day trip with Eladio and saw a sloth, monkeys , toucans and many birds. We also went on a short hike to enjoy natural hot springs. At the end we stopped at a soda for a tasty inexpensive meal.
I would recommend Eladios place if you are visiting Liberia.
Eladio's place is located in possibly the perfect spot for visiting Guanacaste National Parks. In 4 days we visited Palo Verde (45 mins away), Rincon de la Vieja (30 mins), Lomas Barbudal (DON'T miss this! 30 mins) and Santa Rosa (25 mins). It's right on the Interamerican Highway, but it's surprisingly quiet and the accommodations are just right if simple. It's also only 15 minutes from Liberia so it's easy to pop in for dinner or shopping. We stayed in the Palma Real cottage which is two bedrooms with a small sitting area and a full kitchen. Clean and comfortable and even has hot water if you want it. The property is shady and has a nice big clean pool. Eladio himself is a very special guy. He works extremely hard for his guests and is committed to great experiences. He has a hilarious, outgoing personality and is fun to spend time with. Being very familiar with Costa Rican wildlife ourselves, our main goal was to go with someone who knew special spots and could get us there. In other words we didn't need a "biologist guide" as much as an "insider" who knows all the best places. Eladio did not disappoint - he took us to some truly out of the way places around Palo Verde, Lomas Barbudal and Santa Rosa. As a result we saw a prehensile tailed anteater, coatis, jabiru storks, roseate spoonbills and spectacled owls, along with crocodiles and other assorted reptiles. Eladio's offers a unique niche - knowledge of the area plus a nearly ideal location and sturdy transportation. If you are a good birder or wildlife watcher already he'll get you to where you need to go. And if you are just experiencing the wildlife of Costa Rica for the first time it will be fun too. And although we aren't surfers, he apparently offers a killer surf experience overland to Witch's Rock. Surfing is his primary passion. We were impressed with how hard he has worked - and continues to work - to give his guests a special experience. Recommended very highly.
We went on a surfing trip with Elaudio as our guide. He and friend Oscar picked us up at dreams resort, guanacaste, party of 5. He had all the surf boards and 4 wheel drive land cruiser. We headed out through santa rosa national park, eventually on a crazy dirt road through the forest to get to playa naranjo and witches rock. My son really wanted to surf there and everything online talks about taking boats from tamarindo. We were far from tamarindo, so this worked out perfect! Not for the faint of heart. 2 guys with us were beginners and Eladio and Oscar were great teachers! The guys were surfing almost right away. Elaudio is so knowledgeable of all the animals and santa rosa park. Very interesting, genuinely nice person. We had a great trip. We can't wait to do it again.
Eladio's Place to Explore made my vacation a very rewarding experience. I explored the wonderful and diverse eco-systems of dry tropical forest, beach, wetlands and rain forest. Eladio is a very knowledgeable guide to all places and introduced me to Costa Rican people and their way of life. Thank you Eladio, Vanessa, Gabriel and Ana Lu for your warmth and hospitality, making me feel at home away from home! I have many many good memories that I will hold close: Playa Naranjo, the Jabiru, mama and baby sloths, Roseate Spoonbills, Toucans, Howler and white-faced monkeys, hawks, vultures and iguanas. I love the delicious fruit, guanabana, bread pudding dessert budin, and refresco mora y leche. ¡deliciosa! ¡Gracias por todo! I miss you and will always remember a wonderful vacation. I wish all good things for you and family and little dog, Princesa! ¡Gracias! --Sheri
Eladio and Vanessa are great host. Their bungalows are well equipped the basics for a family to enjoy an outting. Eladio can provide tour suggestions and their location is about a 10 minute drive to the center of Liberia, and a short drive to the beach and nearby national parks. WiFi works well to stay connected with friends while on the road. Thank you Eladio for the fabulous hospitality and for sharing your family warmth with mine. Pura Vida!!!
