We stayed for 4 nights and loved it. The volcano stayed hidden the whole time, but so did we. The food at the restaurant was good and the staff was very accommodating. If you book a luxury suite, try to get room #20 at the end of the building. No rooms are next to the balcony on the right side and you feel very secluded. The spa was very nice and we found some great deals in the store. A perfect place to stay in Arenal/La Fortuna.

My hubby and I stayed here on our honeymoon and we loved it! Customer Service was by far the best! The couples massage was absolutely the best, the ambiance will be tough to beat. I really tried hard to at least find one down side, but really there isn't really any. I just wish we had hotels like this in the States. The food was decent, not really any complaints, but only a little bit above average, unlike everything else in this hotel. That is the only "down side" if you consider only a little bit above average a bad thing..lol!

On a side note make sure you book all tours through them, EXCEPT the horseback riding to the waterfalls. OMG!!! The company was by far the worst we had ever been with. This includes tours in the states, and horses I have rode at my grandparents home. This also includes horseback riding in the Santa Cruz/ Tamarindo area. The guys in charge were rude and uncaring and purposely tried scaring us (females in our group). I know how to speak Spanish fluently and believe me these guys were not nice at all!!! Plus the treatment for the horses wasn't very good, nor were the horses trained well. I almost got off and walked back it was so bad and the excuse can't be well that is how it is in Costa Rica, because we did another tour by horseback ride, here and it wasn't nearly as terrible as this.

What a surprise! The hotel was beautiful set up on a hill looking at the volcano and with a negative edge pool. Very tropical with caged birds and an open air dining area. Connected to the hanging bridges park and great for hiking, but the best feature had to be the private jacuzzi tub on the patio of our room looking at the volcano. You could hear the rumbling and see lava/glowing rocks bounce down the side of the mountain at night. It rained a lot one day and sitting on the patio listening to it was a highlight of the trip. The rooms was new, clean, enormous, and had a king sized bed made of natural wood in the middle of the room. What a pleasant surprise the Lost Iguana Resort was.

The place is gorgeous. We stayed in a 2 bedroom 2 bath with an awesome outdoor shower(no there are no bugs in it). The food was good too. I recommend checking out some of the other eateries available too.
Have a rental car so you can go all about.
We were there @ Easter weekend and there was quite a traffic jam on the dam(which is right at the entrance to the hotel) so try to avoid that time. The only real complaint was that our room was VERY moldy musty smelling and I have extreme allergies. Though the front desk tried we couldn't quite get away from the mold. So be ware of this as it is the rain forest and is probably a common occurrence.
Do the zip line! And if you can come in from Nuevo Arenal its such a great trip. When you hike in the woods be carful of the wild boars! We saw them and didn't want to! Defiantly sign up for the phone call from the front desk alerting you if the sky clears at night to see the lava!

I just can't say enough good things about Lost Iguana. The website does not do it justice--it is everything it claims to be and more. Spectacular site, hiking, rooms, views, spa, staff...the list goes on and on. We stayed for two nights but wish we had more to explore the extensive hiking trails on the property. Both the Standard and Celebrity suites were absolutely beautiful, and provided spectacular views of the grounds and the Arenal volcano. Staff were consistently accommodating and friendly, and even the gift shop had prices to brag about.
The food in the restaurant got mixed reviews by our crew, but the beautiful grounds surrounding this outdoor eaterie made up for anything that might have been lacking.
I would love to go back and will definitely stay there again!
