Owner description: At Arenal Natura Ecological Park you will experience the natural world in a whole new way, where beautiful frogs, birds, reptiles, and their natural habitats will have the starring role. Arenal Natura is a private Biological Station, where we are concerned at the conservation of habitats, as well as reserach and reproduction of amphibians and reptiles, many of these listed as endangered species by CITES. We are located in a section of the tropical rainforest, at the base of the Arenal Volcano, home to a large quantity of species which, with the help of our guides, will give you a new way to view and enjoy these impressive, complex worlds.

We had a morning day walk planned, then decided to do the night trip as well based on reviews. It is pretty amazing to be wandering through the forest at night with flashlights trying to spot night creatures. The night walk is best if there’s been rain and everything is damp. It had been too dry, so we didn’t see very much. It was cool to see a couple of armadillo! The day hike was very good with tons of information about the wildlife of Costa Rica. Yes, there were many things to see behind glass, but there’s no way you’d see them in the wild (or even want to!) and you even need a guide to spot many of them in the enclosures. If you’re into biology and seeing native wildlife, both tours are worth doing.

We visited at the end of March based on all the great reviews. We did not have a guide, so maybe we would've seen more. But we didn't see anything except for what was in the butterfly garden and behind the dirty glass displays for the frogs and snakes. The place seems to need a lot of work. We did however see a sloth... in the parking lot above our car! We could've saved our time and money if we would've known before we paid!

With a couple great trails this place is awesome to connect with nature and go for a hike. Great view and you can see the old lava flows. It's excellent for hiking half of the day, but it's not an all day activity. I definitely recommend this place.

This was a very pleasant walk where we got to see some of our favorite animals from our entire stay in Costa Rica! Our favorites were the Red-Eyed Tree Frog and the Leaf Cutter ants. Our guide was very enthusiastic and put great effort into showing us every animal and insect possible.

On this tour you walk on paved walkways with a experienced guide. The guide is very knowledgeable and shares his experience enthusiastic. We were lucky to see quite some animals; unfortunately no snakes but quite some frogs in their natural habitat and an armadillo looking for food. A good tour; nothing scary but good.
