Most hotels in China that cater to Europeans and Americans are going to be pretty good hotels. The Radisson Blue Century Park is clearly head and shoulders above other hotels competing for western guests. The location was excellent. It is less than an hour's drive from the airport and there are many shops and restaurants around the hotel that provide a comfortable familiarity to both European and American visitors.
I felt very fortunate to have been put into one of the suites when I checked in. They are luxurious with a very nice sized sitting room with flat screen TV, a business desk and a small sofa. The bedroom is seperated from the living room by a spacious bathroom that includes both a full-sized bathtub as well as a seperate stand up shower with two shower heads. Unlike many hotels which offer bars of soap, shampoo and conditioner, this hotel also provides toothbrushes, toothpaste, mouth wash, shower caps, and other toiletries as well as a hair dryer. There is a telephone in each of the rooms as well. Each morning I had two full sealed bottles of water available on the vanity.
My bedroom included a downy-soft American style poster bed with a thick duvet and four luxurious pillows of differing firmness. There is a large, flat-screen TV and a stunning view of the city. The closet is spacious and it includes a pair of terry cloth robes, an umbrella, shoe horn, a basket for shoes requiring a shine (which is complimentary) and a small safe. There is also no shortage of hangers! In another closet you can find an ironing board and iron.
The WiFi at the hotel is the best I have encountered in China. I always had excellent connectivity and never lost a connection. Those who have traveled to China and been subject to the local internet connections can surely appreciate how rare this is.
The hotel has an excellent restaurant that serves a wide variety of breakfast items and plenty of everything, Upon check-in I was presented with a voucher for a free drink at the bar on the ground floor as wel las a voucher for a free foot bath. I enjoyed both. The bar is fairly quiet on weeknights, but the place is jumping on the weekends which include live Rock and Roll music.
The hotel also has a pool, fitness center, shuttle service and laundry service with lightning fast turnaround. I happened to spill food on my suit pants at breakfast and the lady handling the laundry actually had them laundered and pressed in less than an hour. I am not saying this is typical, but I know I couldn't have ever gotten that type of service in the states or in Europe. Everyone on the staff that I interacted with had a firm knowledge of English. I know that there were also some staff members also spoke either Russian, Japanese or French.
There are plenty of local shops and an Irish pub just behind the hotel for those who are looking for more western forms of entertainment.
It seems to me that a lot of people who write reviews go out of their way to find fault with the venues. I have tried to think of ANYTHING negative that I could add to my review that might help a potential visitor to avoid. My problem is that I was unable to think of any aspect of my stay that was not first rate.
