My brother joined my son and me in Shanghai for the weekend. I booked and paid in advance for an "ultra classy" room. According to Travelocity and Expedia, this room had 2 king beds.
We arrived at 1500, so this was not a case of checking in late. I was told that they do not have rooms with 2 king beds and was shown standard room with 1 queen but room for a rollaway couch.
It was unclear if they have these 2 king rooms and had oversold them, or the travel sites described the rooms wrong. No matter-either was they should be responsible.
We had a lot of luggage so I didn't want to move to other hotel, plus since I had paid in advance there was no hope of getting a refund.
Staff offered no apology, no refund of the premium I paid -only an offer of a "discounted" breakfast which I declined.
Shame. It is a reasonably nice hotel in good location.More
