Located just a block away from Nanjing road ,Charms hotel offers a variety of facilities for both family and business travellers. However , the first hitch you face is at the front desk with non english speaking staff who barely know their work. We had a problematic and time consuming check in and check out in this era when most of the hotels are going for online or automated check ins. The family rooms are spacious but decor is dated with terribly dirty floor carpets .The overall look of the corridors as u step out of the elevator is very shabby. The toilets stink and the shower is bad. It seems the management has no concern for cleanliness and hygiene at all.Beds are noisy. Breakfast served has options only for the Chinese community. The housekeeping and reception staff are very rude and beware of the touts who try to sell u fake currency. We were about to fall a prey to one of the conceirge staff who was insisting to exchange fake yuans for usd. The proximity to East Nanzing road station and the shopping area is the only plus point of this property. Otherwise strongly not recommended.

This hotel was perfect for our needs. Located in a really good area with only a 5 minute walk to the metro, it is surrounded by lots of restaurant and bar options of all varieties. Also located near to a really nice park where the locals seem to gather to relax and watch the various buskers perform.
The hotel was of a much higher standard than the hotels we stayed in in Beijing despite it being about the same price. The room was comfortable with a spacious en suite. All really lovely

The location is the best thing about this hotel. It’s proximity to most of the must-see and must-go-to places like The Bund, Yu Garden, Nanjing Road, People’s Square, and many others makes it very convenient to get around. Charms Hotel is also surrounded by various restaurants and eateries from the inexpensive to the more pricey ones as well as a couple of convenience stores, and even a fruit stand, too! Very convenient, indeed!

I was not very impressed with the service, unfortunately. I had hoped that being in the hospitality business they would be a little friendlier or more courteous. The rooms were not cleaned very well too. When I dropped something and looked under the bed, there were some used tissue paper underneath and the coffee counter was dusty. I hope this is a one off case of an inefficient cleaning staff and not a general practice of the Housekeeping Dept.

We stayed at this property in the last week of April 2018 on a business visit. The Hotel is located parallel to Nanjing shopping street and has plenty of food stalls around. The property is well maintained and rooms are hygienic. Checking in is smooth, there is a concierge counter near the reception which is helpful for making local cab and other bookings. I wouldn't comment on the food as we did not eat at the property. Its situated at walking distance from People's Square metro station. Has plenty of convenience stores around.

Room Tip: Upper level rooms give a view of the shopping street and the city.

Central location in Shanghai. Within short distance to Nanxing west walk way. Hotel has dual frontage and very well located to good local cafes and restaurant
Room was clean n well ventilated
The third floor room passage need a facelift.
Reception was adequate but lack warmth
Concierge was efficient to obtain transportation
Hotel front desk manager was friendly to give extension to 2 pm which we appreciate much
