OK, so the title of this review is a little silly, but that basically sums up the experience. Service is shockingly bad and food - at least the two brunch items we ordered - was inexcusably poor given the proximity of so many great alternatives. This is a canteen style ordering system (no table service) with restaurant prices and longer waits for food than in most restaurants. Also no synchronisation, so you end up sitting there starving watching your friends eat their underwhelming meals as a preview of your own disappointment. They also make you pay first, so leaving isn't an option. The stinginess of the portions was baffling. Avocado on toast with a poached egg is actually a single poached egg on a very thin slice (one slice) of toast, and maybe 1/4 of an avocado. The burrito, labelled as chef's recommendation, barely qualifies as a burrito - more of a rolled taco. The atmosphere is not particularly good either. Avoid this place.

I just came here for coffee and actually the menu looked quite good, but I will not go back to try it. The staff were not friendly, I was told I had to pay first before getting my drinks and then had to wait a while to get them. Problem is the when you give your order to cashier he gives you a number to put on the table. The waitress then wanders around looking for the number which wastes time and items become cold. When I got my coffees I got no sugar. I asked for it and eventually got some, but no spoon to stir it in. I had to use a knife. This place promises so much more. It looks great, good decor and industrial look and the menu was extensive. A pity that it fails on simple things. There is so much competition in this area of Shanghai, that I will not go back. Disappointing... sorry.

Great place, more like a NY style open plan restaurant than "real chinese" eatery; nice atmosphere, friendly and efficient staff; very wide selection of dishes, delicious clam chowder and truffle potatoes; and its also a shop selling stuff so that you can cook at home. but why bother.

This used to be one of my favorite places for coffee and a pastry or lunch. Food was always really good and the staff was fantastic! They used to have managers and servers who were enthusiastic, engaging with customers, and funny. They knew my family by sight and always were so welcoming.
Now the staff can barely understand their jobs, have NO enthusiasm, make zero connections with customers. It’s simply a transaction now.
I used to come here to feel a bit of ‘comfort’, now it could be any Chinese sidewalk noodle place.
With so many amazing restaurants opening in Shanghai, there’s really no reason anymore to come here. Sad...

Love the beet salad and all the pastries. They also serves fresh fruit juice. It has a corner that sell all the organic grocerries.
