Many of the reviews for this attraction have been for the river walk by The Bund, but the Riverside Promenade is actually east of the river in Pudong. This wide sidewalk runs for about 1.5 miles from Taidong Road in the North to Dongchang Road in the South. It follows Riverside Avenue and features spectacular views of the Bund as well as a panorama of the Huangpu River and its water traffic.
When I walked the promenade in late September, hardly anyone was there. What a contrast to the mobs by the Bund. Parts of the promenade were flooded, but I found it easy to make detours and return to the dry sections. Land nearby has been nicely landscaped and includes lawns and flowerbeds. Many bars and restaurants stand in the vicinity, as well as the Oriental Pearl Tower.
Ways to reach the promenade include Metro Line 2, Lukiazu station, and by ferry boat between Jinling East Road on The Bund and Dongchang Road in Pudong.More
