The Yangtze River Delta comprises Shanghai, JiangSu and ZheJiang. These three areas have certain characteristic dishes that are well known pre-war, now getting some come back but much in need of proper initiation to the rest of the world. Take the reeve shard, for example, it is a Yangtze River fish, steamed with Shaoxing white wine with ginger and sometimes Yunan Ham. Fragrant but very bony. Foreigners need to be initiated to the fun of getting to the most delicious flesh without getting all worked up by the bones. This restaurant can do better in this regard.

We live in Shanghai since two years. We were reluctant to come to Su Zhe Hui. However decided to try. The food is truly excellent. You get here fine chinese / Shanghai food specially if you choose the restaurant signature dishs ( ex : the smoked duck in longjin tea is a very delicat dish / similarly Xialongbao were simply perfect) / beef with lemongrass was wellcooked). Clearly hear you get delicat food ( we did not try seafood this time) We paid 600 rmb for 4 including tea which can be considered as "pricy" but stays very acceptable. I give it 4 stars only because the service was really not up to the reputation.

This was a good way to try chinese food without having to go to a truly local restaurant where people don't speak english and where they don't serve chicken; it is mostly aimed to companies and groups of business people, so it was elegant but not overly so, and the food was good, the prices were on par with other places in the area.

We went to this place as it was highly recommended. The food was just ok, and the service was like they were doing us a favor. They recommended their crab dish- and it was $65 US dollars for a tiny crab. When I complained, the actually took $25 off the bill. This place is a tourist trap - stay away!
