I booked two rooms with windows and had one double room upgraded to a family room, which was good for two adults and 2 small children. My family and I have no complaints about the rooms. The hotel is not new as mentioned by some guests who stayed there, but it is clean and reasonably modern.
The front desk is parked almost right in front of the main door which makes the lobby feel rather cramped, but the highlight is the rooftop bar and café which overlooks the shopping area and part of the famous Yuyuan Garden. That key attraction aside, there is a mall nearby and lots of other shops one can wander around if shopping is your thing. Just watch out for the pesky street vendors who can be persistent and at least one of them is dishonest – repaying our generosity by returning us currency of an unknown eastern European country instead of Yuan.
Avoid breakfast in the hotel too. It’s so basic and unappetizing, you won’t need much prompting to venture outside in search of other food elsewhere.More
